Just had a fog/ice/darkness/car incident. sad
Totally lost the road and ended up in a field, having demolished a fence and a road sign or two.
Had just picked up the kids, too.
Only 20 mins and the RAC were there, unable to help... but there!
20 mins later and the big truck came and pulled the car out the ditch, in the field, whilst Reese, the kids and me got to sit in the warm cab of the truck. (It was -2, according to my car's thermometer.)
And now we're home and the kids are asleep. My car however, according to the kids, has a "but crack" in the front.
RAC man's wife... "I think the radiator might have copped it!" (she was giggling, btw)
Me: "No shit?!"
Ayways, this is just to say how lovely they were, how speedy the service was and how fucking grateful I am that we were all wearing seatbelts.
This paragraph is the bit where I say I do not want "sympathy" or hugs or shite, just wanted to share, and can't wait to get photos posted, coz it is so funny, but I know you've stopped reading by now and will do it ayway.
There'll be photo's tomorrow, soon as I ca be bothered.
Done that, been there, got the T shirt (but on a motorbike).. You don't half feel dumb when it happens, but only when no one is hurt, which thankfully in your case is true.
Shit, Vix, scary stuff - that's so weird, about an hour ago I was driving home through the fog and wondered whether you two were out in this as well!
Hugs for you both, and glad you're safely back in the warm now. Aren't the RAC lovely?
Looking forward to seeing photos of the 'butt crack' :P
x
Glad you are okay, could have been a lot worse. On the RAC, was he a nice man? A very, very nice man?

I was gonna say that to him, till I remembered that was the AA's advert.
I span my car in Wedmore, quite near you a few weeks ago, proper scared me but got away with it thankfully. Well my car is like a tank with tyres!
Glad you're OK.

I saw something like that happen right in front of me one morning.......... bloke in an astra lost it on the ice and he wasn't going that fast....... over a ditch, through a hedge, and straight into the field.
I did of course stop and check that he was alright, but I must admit I did have a little smile on me face on account of the big blue light on the roof and Police on the doors innocent
I know I know....... it's not funny really sad

Glad you are all
Reminded me of when i was with the EX... we hit a deer doing 70mph, miles from anywhere. It cleared a bush straight into the path of the car missed both wings but took out the grill bonnet ,radiator pushed the engine back then as it vanished under the car it ripped the exhaust off on the way out, the car was a total mess my daughter who was 12 at the time was in the back. I have to say thank god we didnt see it coming as we were told if we had braked it would have thrown it up and through the windscreen.
when we got out of the car to look the radiator had gone and all the anti freeze was flowing down the road it was green in colour all my daughter could say was " i didnt know that a deer's blood was green" made us laugh in a nasty situation.
I did get annoyed when no one would stop to help us but someone did call the police who sent out a marksman to shoot the deer so it wasnt suffering ( it died instanly though when we hit it) the police did not even attend themselves to make sure the people in the car was ok. It took 35 mins before a car actually stopped to make sure we were ok and gave us a lift to a call box so i could call my father to come collect us. With my brothers help we towed the car off the road to the nearest place which was the crematorium. Did have a bit of a laugh with the insurance company though ........ explaining we hit a deer and the car was now at the crematorium they thought it was a wind up. I just wish someone would have stopped to make sure we were ok.
Ooo Vix kiss
I had a head on crash a liitle while ago, wrote the car off (and no PiercedJon I wasnt driving :jagsatwork: lol ) - scary shit at the time, more so cos my daughter was in the back, but, like you say, Thank God for seatbelts.
Glad to hear you're allfine! , who put that damn signpost there? :taz:
Bit of an extreme way to get your mirror fixed, isn't it? biggrin
Must be something about the roads around you, if you recall I did a similar thing at a roundabout in February (or was it still just about January?) this year. Fortunately I stayed on the road, turned around, got rid of the smell of burning rubber out of the car, and carried on home.
Can't have been your fault, must've been the local councils neglect of the roads. Wasn't my lack of attention either innocent
