/flounces to the tv and turns off
I'll come back when you've calmed down, but I'd have to agree.

Which LB sketch took the number 1 spot then?
Perhaps the parrot sketch has run its course and is no longer "up there".
It has shuffled off its mortal coil and gawn to meet its maker.
It's a stiff, a goner - If it hadn't been nailed to the video it'd be pushin' up the daisies.
Bereft of life, it rests in archives.
It has rung down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibule.
It is no more.
It has ceased to be.
This... is an ex... sketch!
Lovely plumeage though.
i agree calista- or the four candles/fork handles sketch

The felcking Little Britain sketch wasn't even funny .. itw as the one where they go swimming!!!!
Didn't see the show. Did Eric and Ernie's "The Stripper" get a mention?
Or Abbot and Costello's "Who's on first base"?
Tony Hancock's blood donor "A pint? That's very nearly an armful!" :lol2:

Eric & Ernie was 8th .... another classic ....
The Four yorkshire men should've been higher though!!!
I didn't see the programme as I was travelling back down south, so thanks for posting the list Calista.
The number of Monty Python sketches in the list shows the quality of their work. Eric and Ernie deservedly get a few mentions (as well as the classic breakfast sketch, there's Singing in the Rain and, my personal favourite, Previn plays Grieg - please note that Channel 4 spelt it incorrectly! rolleyes)
How wonderful too to see the 'One Legged Tarzan' sketch get a mention.
"You're right leg is a lovely specimen. I have nothing against your right leg. The trouble is, neither have you!" rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
Granted the dead parrot sketch is a classic but Little Britian is the new cult programme thats changing comedy at the moment,so its no surprise thats its up at the have done some of the best comedy moments of the past few years in their series so i for one don't have a problem with it.

I have to agree, with all these 'best (insert name) of the (insert time frame)" shows it is always a picture of the current situation in the field discussed.
To be honest we have to applauded the fact that the Parrot Sketch lasted this long, does sort of indicate the quality of comedy over the last 40 years that it has taken till now to knock it off the top spot.
No point in me watching the tape now i know who won damn.
Nah i think i will anyway far to many great sketches to miss if i didn't

I would say that Little Britian is one of the most original comedy shows of the modern era and may or may not deserve to be cant say though that just because a sketch was done years ago it deserves to be no.1.I mean should the Beatles always be considered the greatest band ever or an old classic film be voted the best over a modern masterpiece.

Some of these "Best of..." shows tend to end up with the No. 1 slot being occupied by something that was done within the past year. However, the Little Britain material is absolutely first rate & certainly deserves a high placing. Which one deserves to get first (or whatever) is inevitably a personal choice, & 5 different people will probably give 6 different answers.
For those who taped the programme but now know the result, it is certainly worth watching because you find out a lot about what was involved in the creation of so many classic sketches. But remember, it is the comedy that is important, not the final result. lol

A regrettable sign of the passage of time, but neither Tony Hancock nor Abbot & Costello got a mention. sad
