I would like to apologise to anyone that has in anyway been upset about my thread “Who am I?
I started this thread as a bit of fun, I now realise with hindsight how it could come across as deceit, betrayal and could upset and cause some to question my intent.
I never knew there had been cases whereby some had been deceived this way before, if I knew then what I know now I would never have done it.
But isn’t hindsight a wonderful thing?
I have been upset at the thought of upsetting others so for that I am truly sorry.
I thought long and hard if I should just delete this profile and disappear but then that would to me be a cowards way out, I want all those who don’t know who I am to find out hopefully it will then ease their minds, I will face the consequences then whatever is thrown at me.
I have spoke to some people that said just ignore it and carry on, but I can’t knowing that others have been affected by this, it just isn’t in my nature to do that.
I can stand up for myself and be accounted for but not to the detriment of hurting others.
Well I hope we can all learn for this, I for one have!
But I would like to follow this though as I originally set out for it to be just a bit of fun.

I can see how some can be upset by this, but personally I wasn't. I took this as a bit of a giggle.
This has been compared to the member who made a ghost profile to write about others. That was scary in my view, but not this.
Of course, I may feel like this because I joined in when the threads said that this profile was a spoof profile and to guess who they were. I am unsure if it was always like this or not?
In the chatrooms, in a bygone era, you could change your chatname as soon as you entered the room. It was funny when I entered once and everyone had the same bloody name. Took ages to work out who was in there.......but it was fun. Even my other half changed her name (to slut-in-training) and tried to chat me up (didn't work as I did a runner cos I didn't know who the user name was).
So all in all, in my opinion, thanks for the apology but it wasn't needed

If what Dave says is the only reason for people to become upset (and I can't think of any - p'raps I'm being dull?) then you certainly have no need to apologise.

I suppose for the poor souls who seem to want to find some conspiracy theory in everything you might consider putting a disclaimer - inviting people to guess your real name in this profile's signature.

I know now how stupid it was, but we learn from mistakes, nobody gives me 10 out of 10 for brains.

I am sorry that people were upset too. I wasn't deceived first time around so my view over this has been that it was a bit of storm in a tea- cup. I am sure that those who were upset will be happy with an apology. But then again, that is just my opinion.

i personally don't think you have done anything to apologise for it was a joke some people got it some didn' everyone has the same sense of humour. you should only apologise if you did malicioulsly and you intended to hurt people. from all your posts i certainly did not see one ounce of malice or intent. if everything we did took the feelings of other people into account we most probably would not do a lot. cos you can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time. so a big :therethere: from me you little minx

I do find it quite sad though if this is all it takes to upset people. Back in the old days, when the Big Black Dalek ruled the forum and memberships were free this was almost a weekly occurance, a spoof profile to have a laugh and/or take the piss out of your mates.
On a swing site in a galaxy not too far away, there is a profile for an imaginary fish, who tours the world and sends back stories (well, i think he's imaginary :shock: ), a profile for someones camping equipment that went awol at a meet and now does more munches than it's owner and a profile for a milk jug, stolen from a munch hotel. They obviously aren't real swingers.
There must be quite a few of the 'members' on here who are just the remains of us lot messing about in the forum.

You didn't do this with even an ounce of malice and I, as a Chat Op and a Moderator was aware of what you were doing from an early stage. I wouldn't have allowed you to do anything with the intention of upsetting anyone but I knew that this was just a joke to liven up the Chatroom and the Forum.
It is regretable that some people have taken it the wrong way, but your intentions were good and you really did not need to make an apology - certainly not a public aplogy.
Anyway, stop beating yourself up over it (I am aware of how upset you have been about this)and get on with being the person we know, irrespective of whatever Username you choose!! :lol: :lol: :lol:
