:P I need a little creative assistance here please...
I have a good few first meets coming up lol but here's the thing....
As I'm not into one offs I'm not into the "fuck your brains out" first meet.
Ok, so we have....
Coffee shops or wine bars
A meal
A wizz around the London Eye
An amble around the Tate Modern
Shopping in Soho
What else ? dunno
I'm looking for something fun to do together instead of the usual drink and regurgertation of all conversations past.
Please, please help me
How about ice skating
at the least you'd have a laugh
biggrin
You could go ice skating at somerset house - very festive. You can eat there too.
Comedy club - especially King Bong Night. Absolutely brilliant! lol

great minds eh?

Possibly - Pity I'm miles away cos I'd love to go ice skating
hmmm... i'll have to get my thinking cap on.
its a bit cold for picnics in the middle of hyde park!
i dont really know london that much and the attractions..
but then again on one of my first meet i was givne the change to be shown fred wests old house ( it was about 100 yards away from the direction we was walking!) i declined thought it might spoil the atmos. we then went for an afernoon pub meal. and got soaked on the way there.

All I can say is - somewhere & something you feel comfie and in control. Not being every experienced myself - but feelign that a meet is just a meet - I have made it clear that that is all that is on offer that nigth and that allaprties have the right to say "thanks but no thanks"to meeting again. Having said that - I did drive half way home after one and then turn back when it was evident that we wer all very keen
:P Cheers guys.
Lil_miz and Kent-man, great idea the ice skating, glad I now know it's Somerset House, cheers again.
And Mal, what night is King Bong Night. What a great idea!
King Bong Night is Mondays, or it was when I saw it. It's amateur night and an absolute scream! I've been to two Comedy clubs in Manchester, but nothing was as good as that. Each 'comic' has to last two minutes. The audience has three red cards. Once the compere sees all three he hits the gong and they're off - in fact, sod the meet, just go anyway!!! lol
Mal
wink
London Aquarium, walk along the South Bank from there to The Tate Modern, Borough Market on a Saturday, Covent Garden to name but a few....
Oooh and Hamleys is always fun, brings out the child in you!
M
Fantastic :bounce:
Cheers Mal. And Monday works well too lol It's gonna be a blast. Got out my Yellow Pages and gonna call up the club to confirm wink

No problem, just make sure you come back and tell us how it was - the club, not the meet!!
Mal
wink
I like the London Eye 'eye-dear' redface as never been on it ... when are you taking me then? lol
A suggestion for something a little further afield is 'Xscape' in Milton Keynes ... indoor ski slope, real snow, but there's also a bowling alley and a mix of eateries and bars ... but I accept the downside would be the fact that it's Milton Keynes ...
The races is a good place to meet. It is during the day. Its quiet enough to chat but gives you a chance to focus on something other than each other. A sort of fixed finishing time so that you can easily say goodbye if you wish to - but you still have the whole evening ahead of you if you don't wink Plus - I quite enjoy going to the races anyway so its never a total waste of a day.

Coffee shops or wine bars

Either of these is good because they give you the option of a quick exit if you really hate each other.
A meal

Only a good idea if you've already spent some time on the phone or emails etc and you know you'll be able to have a conversation. If you then don't fancy each other, you can still enjoy the meal.
A wizz around the London Eye

I think any kind of sightseeing trip would be a distraction. I'm assuming the point of the meeting will be to talk and get to know each other better.
An amble around the Tate Modern

See above.
Shopping in Soho

Depends who you're meeting. If it's a woman, fine, if it's a man he'll hate you for it.
What else ? dunno

I think it all comes down to how well you already know the person prior to actually meeting them face to face. I met a lady who I had been chatting to online and on the phone for months. We went to a restaurant, and far from rehashing old conversations we had loads to talk about and had a great time. I'm not saying what's right for one person is right for everyone, but if you want to do something "different" you have to be pretty confident that the other person will like what you like. Drinks and meals are a safe bet because everybody eats and everybody drinks.
Libra Love.........you never mentioned meeting up confused:
Seriously, something that will make you both laugh and at ease..........
The ice skatings a fantastic idea
Or perhaps, 10 pin bowling a pizza and a beer :?:
Hire some mountain bikes and cycle down the Thames, or a boat and row down it :!:
Good luck...............
how about one of the ghost or historic walks, then if you dont like him you can always loose him half way round!!!
Thanks All. I knew I could rely on SH to come up with some great ideas.
Ice-Pie, nice break-down and good points. Just one thing though...
One of the blokes themselves suggested shopping in Soho  and hiring fancy dress for a naughty night in at some stage if all goes well redface
I love a man who loves to play :rascal:
Sorry, should have mentioned that yes, we've spent hours on MSN, caming (with close on for now wink ) and the phone.
And the boys have been reading this thread themselves
So let's see it's....
Coffee shops or wine bars
A meal
A wizz around the London Eye
An amble around the Tate Modern
Shopping in Soho :rascal:
Comedy Club lol
Ice Skating
A picnic in Hyde Park :lol2:
Covent Garden
Horse-riding rolleyes
The races :lol2: (if he doesn't mind going to work for a meet  )
Cycling and rowing
Ghost/historic walk
Thanks again  Going on a first meet this afternoon..Yipeee!!!!!
Sounds like you're all sorted now. But another suggestion is 10 pin bowling. You could stop for 1 or more games and be out quickly or spend as much time as you like.
Hope you have fun and it goes well smile Bolling would be a fun idea to though. I just went bolling a couple of weeks ago forgot how much fun it was. :)
If you meeting someone for the first time though I think its always best to go somewhere that you can easyly walk away from without having to feel like your stuck there with them for a long time. I prefer to just go for a drink and a chat for a first meeting. Sometimes you find out they are not what you where expecting at all even if you have known them for a while on the web. I made that mistake the first time I met someone off the net. I gess it depends how confident you are.
Have fun and hope it goes well
I think going round the London Eye is the best idea.
1. You will be in a confined space together - which is always sexy.
2. You will have things to talk about as it goes around - if someone can't talk about London in that thing they probably can't talk - then it's up to you if you want mute (or a muppet)
3. Because there are likely to be other people in the carriage you will either build up some sexual tension or, if not, you will be in perfect safety.
4. By the time the thing has gone all the way round you should have a pretty good idea if you like/want them or not.
If not, you won't have wasted much time and you can hop over to my place instead! lol
wink
Ice Skating = you will enjoy it and if you keep falling over"It will keep on ice""lol
Fred
