Dearest Members,
I’ve read & put my views across over the recent ‘The Death Penalty’ Post.
The overriding point that I have received is that the people are not happy with the current state of the nation.
Then by coincidence, I read the following on the BBC Website:
The boxer Ricky Hatton has said his views on what needs to be done about
Anti – Social behavior in the U.K.
So with reading all the views on this site & within the general media, I’ve come with this suggestion for you all?
If YOU by some miracle, became Prime Minster of the United Kingdom.
What 5 things would be top priority for you to change & WHY ?.
My Top 5 (in no particular order):
5. Get rid of Gender Based School’s in Public Compulsory Education.
If as a society laws exist to prevent Sexual Discrimination, then why does the State fund school’s based on gender?
The modern world is generally about the best individual gets the job with maybe only Sport still being based on gender (I agree with this).
Just have a system that everyone attends then save the cash.
4. Mandatory Voluntary Work for citizens that are 16yrs old.
At the present time when I speak to Young People they deem the Media & then Society are making them scapegoats. What is needed is respect from both sides these being:
Young People & Adults to each other.
I would create mandatory voluntary work for ALL 16yrs old that would last for two years. This work would be within the community & support various charities.
The volunteer would gain life / work experience that would earn them respect from the Adult Population. Or ‘in a nutshell’; it would become a
Right of Passage that according to many a Sociologist is needed for a society to function from National Military Service (Italy) to going alone in the savannah to find then kill a Lion
(Massi tribe of Kenya).
3. Communication Lessons throughout all stages within Compulsory Education.
A major part of life is communication. Expressing emotions & views in a clear manner.
I believe that due to a mixture of the Mass Media, Television & Technology, people are becoming frustrated with each other.
People whilst at school need to be taught how to express themselves especially when dealing with confrontation or anger. This could prevent confrontations becoming violent which would save lives.
Maybe this is currently happening but it needs to be intensified.
2. Get rid of the absolute belief within the ‘Target Driven Society’.
The ‘Target Driven Society’ is not looking at the real issues just the percentages.
They do have their place but they are not absolute & can be fiddled.
People are being forced year after year to get better targets as if they are machines.
This is causing major unhappiness of which I’ve seen first hand through friends.
Am example of this is during the Vietnam War, American Soldiers where given daily targets for the amount of people each solider needed to kill / murder.
Simple lessen the absolute belief within them.
1. Review the entire Drugs Strategy & create a new one.
Just this week in a major Police Operation - ‘Operation Eaglewood’.
A drugs gang was broken up according to reports that evening that I watched on the news; the gang was making ₤4million a week for at least six months…!!.
For more please read:
What will happen is that another gang will come to replace the void that has been left due to the arrests.
People will always want to ‘get high’, it’s that simple. So just locking people up in prisons or building new one’s will not end the desire for drugs it will do the opposite.
I would do is to create ‘Truth & Reconciliation’ committees in all the major cites of the U.K to investigate the affect that drugs have within OUR society.
Anyone one that presents themselves to publicly testify in front of the committee has total immunity from prosecution & can keep any money made from drugs.
In return these people must finish dealing drugs immediately & be totally honest during questioning. They must give out names of contacts; these mentioned people will be then ‘invited’ to present themselves to the committee again with the guarantee of total immunity from prosecution.
If people refuse then they will serve 15yrs in Prison & be investigated.
These ‘Truth & Reconciliation’ committees where used shortly after the ANC got into power in South Africa as many believed that Civil War would happen between Black & White. They are credited with allowing the population to face the horrors that occurred on both sides during the Apartheid Era. This created a feeling of forgiveness in that society that some say halted the White ‘economic business class’ leaving the nation & preventing a possible Civil War.
After around 5 years the findings would be given & I believe it would be one of the following:
The Government has to control the Drugs Market themselves.
OR
Anyone selling or in possession of Drugs will face State Execution.
Well that’s my 5 things to change, what’s yours?
I hope you find this interesting.
