I know a lot of people now use eBay and I had my other half ask me about answering a mail for her eBay account she received header says 'Private Urgent Message'.
I checked it and it leads to a site requesting her ebay info and the primary card account info details for her ebay account.
My partner was in two minds whether to fill it in or not and left me to check it just is a fairly experienced user but still almost got caught out.
The link in the mail leads to an eBay login page where you have to enter your account and password then goes onto a card info section requesting card number, security 3 number code and atm pin number.
Firstly eBay will never ask for any card ,the site is not encrypted for the login or card details can check the security by looking at the address right at the top of your it is secure the first part would read https://,the s here tells you it is secure.
If you want to double check on the web page when using Internet Explorer right mouse click on the page and select the 'properties' tab and it should show connection details, this should read Encrypted with some details of that encryption.
If your using Firefox then again right click on the web page and select the bottom tab 'View Page Info'.This will bring up a small the 'Security' tab and that will tell you if the page is you use Firefox you can also download a Trustbar which wanting details then PM me.
Whilst not fool-proof this filters out a hell of a lot of phishing in any doubt bin the card you may have given details or even partial details by phoning your bank and getting a new log into your eBay account and change your password straight away because this can lead to an info leak too.
The hassle of having to wait a week for getting a new card sure beats getting ripped off and trying to sort out any fraud.
I have already contacted eBay with all the info but still post them if you're unsure.
OK this is a very common phising Email , here's how I spot them 100%.
I have my contact Email addy thru that way they flag up that they cannot confirm the ID of the sender , then hover the mouse over the "Ebay" link and you'll find it reads ( EG here can't remember the exact numbers ) " " well there's a pile of cgi script after the slash and that number is just for example but the other common way they get you is by doing this 8" the important bit here is the @ sign as this makes your browser IGNORE everything before it and sends you to the IP address instead.
Anyone want any more help PM me.

This happens a lot and we regularly get people posting to warn us about it biggrin
I get loads of these 'phishing' emails, mainly for ebay & paypal.
The best thing to do with them is to forward them onto ebay/paypal so they can investigate. They both have set up email adresses for this, they are of the form:
spoof@ the normal bits, eg or
