Could be due to overheating. Stick your hand round the back and feel how hot the air is coming out of the fan at the back. If it's really hot, take the sides off your case if it's an midi or mini tower, this should help cool it down. Could also be caused by excessive dust around your CPU fan, in which case it would be best to buy a can of pressurised air and blow the dust out.
thanks for that will try... smile
what he said.
id check you also havent got the rear fan pressed up against anything like a curtain or something that would block the hot air leaving.
checked that, have sent the misses down to shops for some anti static cleaning material, looks like the build up of dust could be the cause.. rolleyes
i give my towers a mini service twice a year. disconnect everything and remove the covers (both sides if you can). lie it on the table & get a clean paintbrush about 1 inch wide and the hoover then carefully brush the motherboard, cables and casing and anything else dusty using the hoover pipe to collect the dust as you brush it. do the same with the fans, brushing gently from the inside and sucking the dust up from the outside, if you have a front fan, and your feeling brave, you should be able to remove the front of the case & clean inside there as these get very dusty.
if your removing anything, remember to do a quick diagram of how it goes together, if it's still running hot somethings knackered.
i appreciate the advise and will take heed of your notes
thanks
