There appears to be a high percentage of members who, for whatever reason, have not logged into the site for "MORE THAN9() DAYS"
Do admin keep in touch with there folks to verify their status?dunno
The fact is these dormant memberships take up a large ammout of space on the database and are frustrating to us active uses who get pages of results from using the search engine to find most results are dormant.banghead
Just wondering if I am alone in thinking something needs to be done to incentivise members to check into the site regularly so reducing the high level of dormant memberships. wink
I just did a quick search for all members within 3 miles of me. I then filtered the results using the last logged in option
Results were 41 pages long
Of those 41 pages 35 pages have not logged in during the last 90 days.
That is 85.4% inactive
If 85.4% of the membership were dormant like these, and all chose not to renew what effect would that have on the future of this site?
Are admin even aware of this high percentage of dormant memberships?
You have the option when searching the ads to choose to view ads/profiles who have been active within the last 30 days....
what if the peeps r ill or r in n out of hospital,,,,,if they paid up members or free why is it hurting u..so why r u blowing yr top?
I think admin know exactly what they are doing in regards to dormant accounts, as stated you can filter searches by an 'active within' checkbox.
Its not a major problem for most members.
I think all the doormat accounts should go into a BDSM group.

should stick em on magnets on the playroom wall lol
Tell a prospective advertiser you have 1.5 million members they are more likely to pay for adverts than a site that only has half a million members, do you care if most of them are inactive ? that is the site perspective, your perspective that the more advertisers paying to be here the less cost of your membership lol

Can you tell us where the advertisers are on SH? dunno
Love Honey - sex toys ? certainly the Company name and address is different to SH and the Company Registration number, but don't get me wrong here, I think it is in our interests for sites to make money out of advertising so that parts of the site can remain free and paid sections stay at reasonable costs, as I mentioned in my reply, but that apart I was speaking generally about sites.
One bonus of SH is that they have been wise enough to incorporate some of the things that other sites earn advertising revenue from into thier own income, such as the magazine they used to produce and perhaps even the sex toys and lingerie they advertise.

I think you'll find that there's no advertising revenue generated by the SH/Lovehoney relationship. They have a link there simply because they offer a special discount to SH members. If you click the link you should see a special welcome page that shows your discount. I'm not arguing with your underlying premise - just pointing out that it's not the case with SH. ;)
Come November I'll be away for 6 months and won't be able to access sites such as SH. I'll be mighty unimpressed if I come back and my account has disappeared wink
wave
Ahhh, go on then, I'll log in for a bit after months of not bothering.
Incentive to log in.... amusing people and amusing threads, a happy way to spend my time not coming away thinking; 'what a bunch of self opinionated claptrapping hogwashers, that's 30minutes of my life I'll never have back.'
lol

Indeed they are. Hi Warwick wave
To respond to the OP, a member I knew logged in the other day for the first time in over two years. I was overjoyed; then she de-friended me! :upset:
But yes, they do come back after long periods away, so a 90-day rule would be very harsh.

Fanks! I will.
It gives a false impression to new members and encourages them to join in the hope that there are nearly 1.5 million members when in truth there is nowhere near that amount. Having been a member on here for 9yrs a lot of people I have been in contact with no longer come on SH even though there membership is still viewable. Think it is rather naughty of SH because if people thought there was only say for example 3/4 million members they might not join.

Actually, I don't think the size of the current membership matters in terms of attracting new members. After all, the number of members when we joined, was pretty insignificant when you look at the numbers now and it didn't stop us from joining.
the numbers shouldnt really matter as it only takes 2, or 3 or 4 lol depending on what you are looking for.
2000 members or 2million, you cant meet them all.
just beacause some members dont log in, does not mean they are not still viewing the site etc.
and those that are logging in does not mean they are swinging. or want to with you.
understand you want to maximise your chances/ options but a good profile nd attitude is the key
x fem x
The nature of the game is obvious that any couple or female when logging in will get people chatting or trying to meet. The number of males far outweigh fems/cpls so judging a site is different for different people i.e. fems/cpls compared to males.
For me it is about being honest, if you advertise a number of members then I would like to think that meant active members not every member that ever joined.
Isn't it like saying there aren't a people in the world (who are alive at this point)there are actually 960 ...(a lot of whome haven't done anything for a bit)...
wink
What are SH doing that is 'dishonest' then? There isn't a well populated forum/website that has 100% active membership, it just doesn't happen.
SH's front page shows how many members the site has and right underneath it shows how many are online at the time, prospective members can make an informed choice as to whether they want to join and as the initial joining is free then it's bound to draw people in.

I agree fem_4_taboo with regards to a good profile and attitude entirely but surely if people are just "logging on" and just viewing there profile would not say "last online over 90 days" it would say the last time they were actually on SH.
This is on the front page now. I wonder what percentage are active? (I'm sure someone else knows)
