Hi Oursubdee, welcome to the forums lol Yes, a number of the longer members have been complaining about some of the newer posters. We do like having newer members joining the forums, who all bring something different. Infact we were all new at some stage wink
The complaints have been more about the quaility of some of the posts. The one liners saying 'meet me now' or 'which lucky lady can I shag tonight' etc.. We have always had these types of posts and always will, but it was the sudden increase in the numbers that we found alarming.
The forums have always worked like a little community, with most people knowing each other and used to seeing each others posts etc. It was a little like having a new housing estate suddenly built in the middle of a little village, and even though it was nice to have new 'neighbours' it would have been a little less unsettling if they could have moved in one by one rahter than en-mass
I agree about the Search facility in the ads, but I do know that the Admin are working hard at the moment sorting out the glitches and I know this is on their 'To Do' list. They have also given instructions on how to use your town rather than your postcode but it is down to peoples choice and a lot of people seem to still be using just their postcode (probably unaware that they can actually change it).
Anyway, dont give up just yet, give it a bit of time to settle down, and I am sure things will get back to what was a nearly normal state
Has anyone actually asked the new people how they arrived to the site? It just might give a better indication of how they perceive it. Or is that too practical?
Obviously new people have been redirected or just bundled in from a variety of similar sites. They obviously see the 'old' SH members in the same way as they are being viewed. Or is that too simplistic?
The site is a commodity and will probably changes hands several times throughout its life. Its just another new adventure, so enjoy what you can.

I notice quite a few complaints from regular users concerning the increase in new people visiting.

I, like just about, if not all the regular users would never complain about new people just for visiting the forums.
However, I have complained to people that haven't bothered to read any part of the forums before diving in with "this site don't work, I can't get a shag" whinge as their first introductory post!! Guess what? I don't care!!! No no, I really don't!!!! What I do care about is that some people have no intention of contributing to the forum community. One or two people doing it is easy to handle and ignore, but when you get loads of em flooding in here with no regard to the regular users, their only concern is that they've spammed everyone on the site and still haven't been able to fix up a shag within half an hour, then it's a tad annoying, not to mention tedious to hear. To me, most of em have no intention of listening, let alone taking the advice given - looks more like a "gimme a sympathy shag someone, please" post confused
There is a community here, a pretty tight knit one at that, we just don't like our little corner of the web to be flooded with people that have no intention of joinging in.
The flip side of this tho, is that the new posters that do want to join in and get to know us are more than welcome  - that's what makes the forums, new people coming in, giving a new light on things. Happy to join in with a thriving social scene, generally being a part of the community.
The ads and the forums are two very different things. Surely people that usually only use the ads can see that, can see that the forum thing probably isn't for them? And vice versa - To me they're very different things, I've never had an ad up since the day I joined SH, it's not my thing, don't mean I haven't swung tho, just swung in a different way I s'pose, less anonymous dunno
Have been thinking about this one myself a lot, and can only come to the conclusion that the recent site alterations have opened up a "hidden" link to another site. Lets face it, the changes have not gone well for whatever reason, and whilst I know sod all about programming, I do know that it is possible hide one programme in another e.g. the soft porn pictures that were discovered in the fault finding programme for a large, up-market European tractor! We have a similar thing in my trade. You never give the job of planting daffodil bulbs to a disgruntled employee!

thought so, revenge is sweet aint it lol
And the flowers ALWAYS seem to do better, the ruder the comment and the more prominent the planting site biggrin
The main question I was trying to raise I posted my original comments was whether the sudden increase in forum users is due to the rest of the website being almost unusable? I for one have only just started visiting the forums due to finding little else to explore on Swinging Heaven.
We have not read the threads thoroughly but have noticed the increase in newbies and some of the saddo one line posts
It would be interesting to know how some of them 'found' the site
It would also be useful to have the search function back and am mystified why, if it is coming back, it is taking so long
Great post Dee it mirrors our thoughts exactly.
I saw a post somewhere stating that the membership had jumped from 35000 to almost .3 million in a matter of days of the changeover !!! I don't blame anyone for wanting to recuperate some of the 1000s of hours input and hard cash spent on the site but I can't help being cynical ( its the internets fault lol ) and wondering if SW is now part of some grander scheme and will become more and more impersonal and less a community.
At this point I should thank the owners and moderators of the old SH for providing what I think was the best swingers site on the net by miles - not only because it was free but because of the ideal.

I’ve been browsing through various postings in the forums, which is unusual for me.
I notice quite a few complaints from regular users concerning the increase in new people visiting. Possibly these “new” forum users are much like myself in that they are browsing this area of Swinging Heaven due to the total lack of facilities in the advert sections? I used to do regular searches in the photo ads via certain key words and place names but now I need to almost be a post office worker to discover where people are located! I never used to use the forums but as there is little else to do on this website I have started to occasionally take a look at the postings.
My usage of Swinging Heaven has over the past week gone from a couple of hours per day to around 10 minutes. I have read that the site owners intend to charge and if so I for one will expect a vast improvement before parting with hard earned cash!
ive started using the forum more because of the difficulty in making the ad section do what it used to do biggrin
But hey i now like the forum......

In which case the question I would ask is did you know about the Forums BEFORE the changes...... and that is where the problems have arisen... the new people haven't always understood/cared about the rules......
yes other parts of the site have and in the case of the chatroom are a lot more differcult to use... by in a sense with the unified log ins.. the people who just used the ad's got two new toys..... the forums and chatrooms... and instead of paying heed to the rules that were in place it ended up being a free for all/ lack of understanding.......that is why a lot of people left, that is why a lot of the old posters don't post here much anymore......
It is a shame that you weren't here before all the changes.... it really was a home away from home...the place just doesn't have that feeling anymore....
It appears to me that the solution is to cut down the numbers using the forum, and the method it's quite a simple one. Give us back a photo ad section that is fully searchable like it used to be. I for one will almost stop using the forum and go back to my old daily routine of browsing people’s adverts!

It doesn't necesarily have to be a case of cutting down the number of people using the fourms.... just a greater understanding for the enviroment they are using.....
can i use the chatroom as an example.... overnight it went from being a place where people use to chat about everything and anything, to a place where it was unmodded, people where spamming the room, people were putting pressure on people to put on "shows" and people were being pm'ed mercilessly whether they wanted it or now..... it basically became a free for all sad :( :( :(
if you don't want to use the forum then that is a shame.. because you do put your points across well... and for any newbies I would suggest the forums over the ad every day of the week, because you get a better sense of people in here than you do from a couple of paragraphs..
yes .it is a lot slower, take everything at the pace that people want to go at...wether it is advice or opinions, taking the next step and going to munches, where you know you can meet other swingers in a non pressure non play enviroment.....see if it is really for them and make some brilliant friends at the same time.....
that is what the forum and the chatrooms had before, as far as i am concered that chatroom is for all intentsive purposes dead.... but i do begin to see the old spirit coming back a little in the forums......
if you only want to use the ad's then fine.... but then you will never realise what was here and what a gem slipped thru your fingertips...

i totally agree with you iv used the photo ads for about 2 years and then a few months ago i discovered the chat room and then the forums and now i hardly ever use the photo ads.
both the chat room and forums is a community that welcomed us with open arms and when things went tits up with all the changes i can honestly say that i was really upset
the chat room will never be same again i don't think but the forums are getting back on track thank god!!!!!

Agree... if you have a clearly winning formula, why change?, no matter how much improvement you think you can make....first rules of business. "Change" is never welcome anywhere, but change for the sake of change (and not for better!) is suicide. cool
