Long live P2P telephony smile I know i'm a bit behind the times but i've only just got around to trying it out and all I can say is i'm bloody impressed. I mean how the hell can you beat free video phone calls to any PC with a broadband connection. Just put the headset on dial the user you wish to contact and away you go . Not going to say what software i'm using (not sure if I can) but it looks like my phone bill's will be hugely decreased next month its chuffin ace even leaves your hands free to do other stuff  . Such as typing so I can work on my PC and chat at the same time without fear of the wrong window popping up and me typing a chat message in a customers invoice (yes it has happend before and i've sent it out redface).
I know you can also buy credit and call any mobile or landline number but i've yet to try this bit out. But like I said i'm impressed with it all so far so don't messenger me or text or call me simply P2P me confused lol
May look a bit thick here but wot is P2P means dunno
Peer to peer it means sharring between 2 or more PC's file's etc but in this case what you share is a basically a telephone link biggrin

ahh you have a PM my much worthy peer worship
I read somewhere that it can start to slow down connections for broadband connections usually operate on a 50:1 ratio to make it more cost effective for the user - relying on the fact that all 50 users will not be using the full bandwidth of the connection at the same time, but if p2p phone calls take off - won't this then come to a grinding halt and be as effective as trying to have a VOIP call using a 56k modem !
I'll just stick to what i know works and if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Whilst my office connection is at 8 gig my home broadband line is only a mere half a gig and I use it and have 2 or 3 browser windows open at the same time with absolutley no time lag what so ever but like you said stick with what you know if it suits your requirements smile
if anyone wants to translate any of the above into plain english, i'd be most grateful!

Spot on Mik69 - thanks - it's true in my case, and being blonde I still write cheques and buy stamps for my email. So don't dispair if you ring me and don't get an answer lol
Instant Messenger is Dead !!!!!!!!
I know this is probably a bit simplistic, but I jumped aboard with when it first came out, and yes it was very impressive, and crystal clear, and free yadda yadda ............... and for a while i was impressed .................. but it did not take very long to discover its drawbacks.
OK, let me explain my point. What is one of the main attributes of instant messaging? We to us it’s the fact that although we may have many people in the room, (kids, visitors etc) we can still chat to each other, or to other people and the only sound that ensues is the rattle of a keyboard, with P2P voice messaging, you actually have to talk, and if you have a cheap inferior mic, shout at the computer dunno
Cant really see the point rolleyes
