We're considering getting an Ipad, but we're unsure which to get, we've not ventured into the Apple thing at all yet, we're also considering getting the new Iphone 4 too.
Can anyone answer this question for us, if we get a wifi Ipad can we pair it with the Iphone or other wifi enabled phone and go online with it that way or would we either have to find a wifi hotspot or get the wifi/3G version of the Ipad?
Thanks in advance

Having both here:-
Pairing - you can via blue-tooth but Apple use a cut-down version and so far I've only managed to get it to make calls not exchange data or with any other blue-tooth device here.
Verdict - problematical.
i-phone4 - a bit like Marmite, you either love it or hate it.
Verdict - I'm in the hate group at the moment. Much prefer the Mk3.
i-pad (wifi) - It depends on what your primary use for an i-pad is. as a book reader it's rubbish in bright sun. As a quasi Internet browser it's OK in a wifi spot but as with all i-apples it can't handle Flash player so vids don't show and the chatroom of SH of course!! lol unless you jailbreak it but you will invalidate your warranty!!
i-pad (3G) - It will depend on your mobile provider and the quality of their 3G offering it can be sloooooooooooow to refresh (if using abroad - check the data-limits in your contract these can lead to HUGE bills).
Verdict - good for somethings - crap at others.
Hope that helps...

One thing to be aware of is that Apple don't like Adobe on their mobile products, like iPad and iPhone.
Therefore that means no Adobe Flash Player, therefore you'll find some functionality on SH won't be accessible to you, primarily the current version of the Chat Rooms. Whilst this will be partially addressed via the new version of Chat, see thread in Chatroom Lounge Forum asking for testers, my understanding is that Adobe Flash Player will still have a role - although smaller)
As for general views on Apple, will leave that to others as generally anti-Apple
I'd agree with the other comments so far. Apples are designed to run apple approved software anything else and you're gonna have issues so you need to know what you want the bit of kit for. I'm an IT pro and in the early days Apple had some good gear but it's just not flexible enough for general computing these days. I'd save my money and buy a couple of laptops instead.
