Just had to renew my car insurance... Only 250 quid more than last year. Great! sad
I suppose it might be my own fault for those extra points, but even so... redface surprisedops:
TRYD TESCOS ON LINE U CAN FIDDLE ABOUT AN SCAM THEM FOR A CHEAP QUOTE THAT THEY HAVE TO HONOUR
tried them and everywhere else... my renewal with my current insurer ended up cheapest anyhow.. sad

This is actually untrue. If you give false information to gain a cheaper quote, then *any* insurance you may purchase as a result will be invalid.
You may even find yourself with a charge of fraud against your name rolleyes

1) Fraud, and they don't have to prove it to judicial standards to make your chances of getting a decent quote for insurance or a mortgage in the future a nightmare
2) Not true. They are under no obligation to honour an online quote. If you lie and they subsequently discover this, or you can't prove it (eg. no claims), they'll either cancel the contract or charge you the difference.
That being said, Tescos and Elephant are both good for reasonable quotes smile
Should try saved me loads but suppose it depends on your circumstances

Must say I assumed he meant playing around with the web site jumping between pages a lot ect untill the server gets so confused it gives you a silly quote!
Never actually tried to buy a silly quote cause I assumed it would be rejected but you never know once managedto get a quote of 8p from elephant using this technique.
Im currently insured with Tescos, had a crash in January (oh boy what a start to the new year that was!) and they booked in my car for work the same day i phoned them, paid up with no problem and even the courtesy car was delivered and picked up too.
Well, I've been with Churchill for the last 3 years now.. They always seem to be cheaper than everyone else for some reason.... Still haven't given me a nodding dog though sad
What i ment was you can knock off any extra like legal expenses, breakdown cover which they offer you anyway at a later date if you are unlucky enuf to have an accident
also the milage a year that you rack up counts as well so by knocking that down to a bare minimum u can save money that way as well
and the value of ur car as well if you put the price you bought the car for they will only honour the book price if you have an accident so u can afford to lower the price
most of these options ive mentioned are only available online an most operators dont give you the option to edit them so the company makes a bit more money
i dont take kindly to peaple writing essays on how crap my spelling is or trying to prove how much more learned they are............................... duel
Fair enough smile Tescos are reasonably good at not including 'sh## you don't need but we can charge you for' - but it's well worth checking the details
It was "SCAM THEM FOR A CHEAP QUOTE" that rang some alarm bells
Although actually "and the value of ur car as well if you put the price you bought the car for they will only honour the book price if you have an accident so u can afford to lower the price " is still incorrect I'm afraid.
If you have a car worth 8000 and you claim it to be worth 6000 in the event of an at fault accident you can be adjudged as underinsured. The insurer is only obliged to pay the percentage of the total claim at which you were insured, ie 75% in that case. You would be liable for the remainder.
I haven't tried tesco's yet but I am having an nightmare getting quotes. I haven't had a car for a while 'cos I had a motorbike for a while, hence my NCB has elapsed on car insurance.
The result is that for something as basic as a ford focus, they want between 1,200 and 1,500 quid for comprehensive!!!
I cannot fiddle it (and wouldn't) but any advice would be useful.
confused
How can they charge sooo much???
Can you not get you motorbike insurer to pass some of your NCB onto the car insurer... I know they are not the same, but I have heard of people geting a statement from their insurers saying that they have been a road user and claim free for so long... Might not get full NCB, but might be worth a try.
Try Adrian Flux. They cover unusual vehicles and circumstances, they may be able to via some of your bike NCB, or your lapsed one.
Any of u out there know a good horse insurance company, after being with the same company for a lot of years and not makin any claims I've not renewed this yr as they quoted me almost double what I paid last yr!
Have the car and house insured through them and the renewal for both of them was very very competitive
Thanks guys, I will give it a try - I know some of the major comoanies completely disregard Bike NCB's, but the cheeky b**s**ds are quite keen on any bike claims!!!
Win Win situation for them and the mere consumer gets shafted again!
the less value of the car the cheaper the quote
