I know to call a lady a slut in a vanilla way is asking for a slap in a vanilla way.
...but what about here. Now I not use the term, well may be if I know the lady well and we have an understanding, but is it acceptable?

I agree with FB (but then, I usually do) regarding 'whore' and the 'c' word (which I have always found particularly offensive). However, (and here I must beg to differ) I DO think that 'slut' can be quite a playful word in the right context - and with someone with whom that context is clearly understood.
It IS used, occasionally, in our house - but not in the sexual sense, more in its original form meaning slovenly or slatternly. It's sexual connotation is actually relatively recent.
If we want to mock each other gently (not necessarily just in the bedroom) then we tend to prefer 'tart'.
