Hello, this is my first foray into the forums....
I dont think of that term as being for a fat person but a vivacious, lively and happy person. Usually a woman. smile

Is the term " boring twat" only ever used for people like brucie

ever used for someone who isnt fat?

I dont recall which radio presenter it was but one of them said "If the dating ad says bubbly dont expect a thin person"
Rightly or wrongly it seems to be larger people who describe themselves as bubbly and also get decribed that by others.
a few answers here.

why well said? ofcourse it matters. its a legitimate question.
i'll add to that, why are fatties always so defensive even though they go on about being comfortable in their skin?
OI ................... less of the remarks>>>>>> fatties !
never once did i refer or say that it was offensive..........the reply was a legitimate answer to the question which you asked, just because someone else agreed with that reply does not imply that they were offended. If i was offended you would have known about it in my reply !
However after your last remark i am totally pissed off with you now ! your remark was uncalled for and down right rude
pmsl, i would swear you were a front bench politician with the way you like to turn things around. Brucie, i was brought up with manners and how to talk to people, please accept my apologises if this offends you smile
Singstar you have to excuse brucie, when he gets bored he likes to stir it up a bit.
When I was younger and thinner I was "bubbly" too, its my personality not the way I look that makes me "bubbly", ask anyone who knows me, and to be honest the term makes me think more of a Barbara Windsor type, all giggley and smiley not a larger person.

while i do not like the term fatties the rest of what this poster has said is correct.
example.

in it this person says "I'd be lying if I said I was more comfortable being a size 16, but I've got to stop beating myself up.
"For me, staying thin is like a full-time job, and I'd rather spend that time looking after my kids and focusing on my career."
the last coment i feel is a selfis one as if she gets too much bigger that time spent with her kids will be with her sitting on a bench whilst watching them play.:jagsatwork:
how anyone c an honestly say they are happy at being for stone over waight as an example confuses the hell out of me. i do think that for most peeple it is purely about how much they eat and how littel they exsecise, then get all humpy when peeple call them fatties or bubbly.
is any thing we say now ofensive to some one?

english isnt your first language is it?

now brucie that made me laugh because I was thinking the same thing myself, hate bad spelling :small-print:

Well would you get "humpy" if for example I said I don`t like tall people and you were tall, or if I said I don`t like black haired guys or skinny women, I don`t like people who smoke but I don`t start threads about it, each to their own.
And yes I`m sure lots of things said in this forum are offensive to some people.

i am an adult who does not cry if someone said something silly like being bubbly, but reely ment i was fat.

Why would I report anyone for replying to a thread
You say one thing and I say another and other people join in, thats the nature of threads its personal opinions, besides I think you`ll find it was brucie who commented first, so please copy and paste and send a reply to him, however you will find he is not "bubbly" or why don`t you just say fat and be done with it.
p.s. I don`t want you to check my profile thanks as Ive already stated that I`m a bbw and my pic is just over there and up a bit <<<<<<<<<
I think you're all missing the point Brucie is trying to make. Because he only encounter larger ladies who have a sparkling personality, he's trying to say that all skinny women are right mardy cows. wink

:giggle: You are a total arse Brucie but you do make me laugh!!
Bubbly has nothing to do with a persons physical appearance, it's more a way of describing their personality. I've know many people over the years who would be described as having a bubbly personality and they cum in all shapes and sizes.

i have no idea why i think that, its just what i think if i hear someone described as bubbly .... !
no conspiracy at all its just how my brain works i guess :)
personally i would describe myself as 'cuddly' rather than bubbly, im fat but theres nothing bubbly about me, in my experience those larger ladies described as bubbly are usually over compensating and its a defence mechanism for the stigmatisation of being large and prejudice of other people
for the record i dont over eat, i eat occaisional unhealthy foods but my diet is not that different from my best friend who is half the weight i am BUT i dont exercise much, i dont like exercising and unfortunately im a lazy cow (pretty much like my friend though)
the only exercise i enjoy is dancing which i have to now be careful with due to a knee injury and sex...which i just dont get enough of lol
I personally think size-ism is discriminatory and should be treated as a hate crime.

what?!!?!?
oh i see, it was a joke. good one, you had me for a while...
well we agree on something then brucie.
lost is obviously having a laugh here at our expence. wink
well done lost you had me fooled for a minute.
what ism was that again now?

it is actually a very interesting question.
unlike race or sex for example which have no bearing on someones ability to do a job, being overweight does have that effect. absolutely in physical jobs and in my mind also in non physical jobs, that is if you believe that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. which i do.
so why shouldnt a potential employer, having taken any reasonable steps to make a role suitable for as wide a group as practicable (including disabled people), take in to account a candidates physical limitations?
i would consider obesity as a disability and apply the relevant legisltaion to that. But normal fatties should not get the protection that affords. why shouldnt an employer be allowed to choose a slim receptionist over a fat one?
whilst a black receptionist cannot change her colour for the job, a fat receptionist could go on a diet.
disuss (that doesnt mean get angry) (and sweaty).

I thought you hated people who cant spell!! lol
I don't see why you think it ok to be obese but not to be overweight. Is obesity not just taking overweight to the extreme and as self inflicted (if not more so) as being overweight?
How overweight does someone have to be in your eyes to be classed as a 'normal fatty'? dunno

what is a normal fatty? is that someone in your eyes that is only fat because they eat too many pies and take no exersice?
i happen to agree with the employer thing though.
i have a very and i meen very bubbly receptionist where i work. wink
