Hello, this is my first foray into the forums....
I dont think of that term as being for a fat person but a vivacious, lively and happy person. Usually a woman.

ever used for someone who isnt fat?

why well said? ofcourse it matters. its a legitimate question.
i'll add to that, why are fatties always so defensive even though they go on about being comfortable in their skin?

how anyone c an honestly say they are happy at being for stone over waight as an example confuses the hell out of me. i do think that for most peeple it is purely about how much they eat and how littel they exsecise, then get all humpy when peeple call them fatties or bubbly.
is any thing we say now ofensive to some one?

Well would you get "humpy" if for example I said I don`t like tall people and you were tall, or if I said I don`t like black haired guys or skinny women, I don`t like people who smoke but I don`t start threads about it, each to their own.
And yes I`m sure lots of things said in this forum are offensive to some people.

I personally think size-ism is discriminatory and should be treated as a hate crime.

it is actually a very interesting question.
unlike race or sex for example which have no bearing on someones ability to do a job, being overweight does have that effect. absolutely in physical jobs and in my mind also in non physical jobs, that is if you believe that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. which i do.
so why shouldnt a potential employer, having taken any reasonable steps to make a role suitable for as wide a group as practicable (including disabled people), take in to account a candidates physical limitations?
i would consider obesity as a disability and apply the relevant legisltaion to that. But normal fatties should not get the protection that affords. why shouldnt an employer be allowed to choose a slim receptionist over a fat one?
whilst a black receptionist cannot change her colour for the job, a fat receptionist could go on a diet.
disuss (that doesnt mean get angry) (and sweaty).
