BTW, maybe I should ask Mark to change my name to Armitage Shanks, what do you think?

No, change it to Armitage Sharks - best rock band of the '80s .... but if you do so, remember to Lock Up Your Goldfish!

Hehehehehehehe - yeah, that was an "in" joke, so shoot me, and yeah, I'm a piss taker, so fLucking shoot me for that too.... in fact, shoot me anyway, I've heard holes in the head are fashionable this season :P
Anyways, in answer to the thread, as others have said the piss taking from the regs is light hearted and non offensive, it does not break the AUP and tbh I think it's damn funny...... newbies who have the balls to stick around join in and soon become regs......... call it a baptism of fire if you like.......... and it beats the old initiation ceremony we used to have were by all newbies had to be hauled into the GFZ on a Friday night and fucked hard and dry up the arse with a 10 inch strap on lol
I guess the moral of the story is, if you can't stand the heat, fLuck off out of the kitchen.... or grease up your arse before you log on for the first time (especially on a Friday)

I would shoot you - but I'm like a sniper, one shot and that's your lot for a long while rolleyes wink

Piss taking is one thing.......but some of the new peops do NOT deserve the barage that they go through......

I think one of the things you need to be careful or aware of as a new poster is parachuting into an in-joke or past debate without knowing it. I've seen this before on other different themed sites, and it is painful to watch.
Perhaps you could all bear this in mind when you rip me/us off a strip - we might not understand the joke or the reason people get upset quickly.
(Waits for humiliation)
Come on dude, I'm standing up for you !!!!..........but if you'd rather go alone.....
have fun

Think of it another way. A newbie posts "hi" and are often unsure what to say or how to follow it up. A piss take gives them the ideal opportunity to respond and join in.
If you dont have a sense of humour of some sort, this place probably isnt for you.
Or, again think of it differently. You are a single guy looking for success, what better way of standing out than having a laugh with people?
Give it a go, you might like it! :

Newbies don't need a piss-take ........unlesss they they ask for it
Surely they should be welcomed with opened arms and given a chance ffs
What better way than a gentle piss take?
Like meat said, some just ask for it, take the guy with the 0" dick. The piss was ripped good style, I dont beleive he came back, but if he had and had laughed about it, I would have been one of the first to welcome him.

......most of the time it is in good fun....

Lets be honest here some of the time its not. Its just pure sarcasm and people try to outdo each other making the person who posted feel small, and stupid
The number of times ive cringed, and felt sorry for new people posting on here is increasing I will be honest theres times I dread posting on here too, and Im not new
yeah we do have the idiots.......but we also have genuine people, who are just a bit nervous and dont explain fully.
If theres one thing that will make new members run, its being jumped on, sure they post questions we seen before, they havent seen it being new. And i for one am not scrolling through every topic to see if it has been covered before..............would you?
This site has been going for a while now...........and yes Questions will be duplicated......if youve seen it before....dont jump in with a a link to previous answers lets see what the new members have to say. encourage people to add to the thread, not put them off entirely. I for one think new members bring new perspectives, and ideas, lets read them

I can usually look after myself - my point is that sometimes you can land head first in the sh1t without knowing why, and that makes it hard to dig yourself out without making the hole bigger!!

If i remember correctly HC, i made the transition from newbie to regular with a bit of piss taking with you, postie and horny red in the infamous 'Miserable Cat Bastard' incident. well i'm still here, your still here, reds still here & we are all having having a good laugh with each other most days. no one has told me they find my posts offensive, if they do i'm happy to listen
Meat2please you.... I find your posts upsetting a deeply disturbed... erm... I mean I don't like them
Wanna talk about it?! :rascal:

I mean look at Happy Cats, everyone used to hate him! Now only a few people do!

Rollo - If a post ain't going your way... Just bite the bullet, and don't look at that thread again.. not until everyones let it calm down.. Theres no need to dig yourself further into that hole.. your only typing on a pc.. its not a head on 1 to 1 conversation where you cant just leave it alone. its best to pick up a new thread.. and HAVE SOME FUN!!!!

That is true actually..... but the thing is... if a newbie does dig themselves a hole cos of an "understandable misunderstanding" due to not having the history to be able to keep up with the regs' banter there are many people on here who are willing to offer them the ladder for them to climb out of it. It is clear this forum is not for everyone, some poeple don't want to stick around and chat so they go away quickly.... but others pester and whinge and stick around JUST to annoy us all............. would you want to offer a ladder to a prat or would you rather us just fill in the hole with sand and forget that he or she is still buried?
On second thoughts, don't answer that!

HCs you mentioned the guy who posted about his 0" dick - he is rather a nice guy. I had a smashing pm from him laughing about his slip. In his own words he left it so people "could have a laugh" lets be honest as he also said it has made severla of the site have a look at it even for comedy reasons.
I for one think he has a lot of backbone and I want him to stick around.
Steph biggrin

Tell him to come back!
I'll go out of my way to greet him.
I think some of the problem is the way a person enters into swinging heaven.....
I think that a lot of people are tending to mirror the style that people are writing....
I don't think I have seen a polite "hello, I'm new" post flamed... whereas if people are being what some may consider to the brash and arrogant, they are being brought down a peg or two.. I never said it was right but that is what i see going on......
First impressions do count for a lot around here... rightly or wrongly

Hahaha,
Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone cos I'll get a right slatting for it but........
I thought you were quite attractive HappyCats.....for a miserable cat bastard of course! lol
And I am NOT going to flounce! ffs!
<pout>
I think people just need to take things a bit more with a pinch of salt and stop trying to be so perfect! everyone makes mistakes and I've lost count of the amount of times I've had the piss ripped out of me. In fact if I don't have the piss ripped out of me now and then I wonder what I've done to upset you all!
It's part of the show to hijack and joke about. Its when its personal that it hurts but then it falls into the trolling and abuse category and I'd rather that it was sorted out via PM than whinged about all over the boards. If you are not in the mood for this place..... the log out button is your friend! ;)
kiss and wave to all the newbies.

Spot on Steph... I think it's showing that you are able to laugh at you own stupidity that matters here... most pf the regs on here are still posting cos they have a sense of humour.. I've been on other forums where the chat is dry and humourless and I never stick around more than a couple of days.. one of the reasons why SH is different is cos of the humour-factor. Yes, it must be very daunting for noobs to try and break into the "in crowd".... and yes, there is an "in crowd" of sorts... that has happened cos a lot of us know each other in RL... and in RL the humour is exactly the same as it is here.... I do admire the noobs that stick around after people have taken the proverbial Michael.. they show backbone and the kind of humour that makes me sure that they will fit in.
I liken it exactly to going into a RL pub for the first time and trying to make friends.... people that jump in feet first in RL are just considered weird, or pushy, or downright arrogant.... exactly as they are on here....... it takes time to make friends.... noobs need to remember that....
I remember being scared to post cos I didn't know anyone, but I did it and now I'm the top poster hehehehehehehehehehehe... people that know me in RL know that I'm actually quite a shy person, so if I can do it, so can anyone.....
Yes, people like Dino, Nomad Soul, and Vicky_UK do have a point too... maybe sometimes the stick noobs take is too strong..... I'll be nice in future and grease them up first... how's that for a compromise lol

I think that's exactly the point Steph, he's seen the funny side of it; it was light-hearted. He obviously made a mistake, he's been ribbed about it and he's a nice man. Some people would have taken the light-hearted comments the wrong way and the thread he started would have taken a completely different turn.
Look! I've got a 16 year old daughter just come in pissed, a wife who has gone out to get pissed and a teenage son who's not talking to me.
Its a miracle I'm as happy as I am!
