'Amarillo' video crashes MoD PCs
A spoof video of the song (Is This The Way To) Amarillo, performed by British soldiers in Iraq, has crashed Ministry of Defence computers.
Troops in the Royal Dragoon Guards shot a home video at their Al Faw base of their version of the video sung by Tony Christie and mimed by Peter Kay.

Put it into perspective. Millions of people have been killed throughout the world in various conflicts throughout the centuries. Where do you draw the line? Wiping out humour in every country that ever had a death? I don't think so.
I'll try and find the whole vid and post a link if I can.
Mal
wink
(STILL with a sense of humour! lol )

They were letting off steam and having a bit of fun not sick at all
Give them a break and lighten up

I beg to differ, they are not dancing on anyone's grave, they are not insulting Islam and they are certainly not to blame for the war.
They are however involved in a horrendous, dangerous situation that could affect them for the rest of their lives IF they get home safely. What they were doing was reassuring their friends and family that going to war has not made them into monsters who have forgotten how to smile or enjoy themselves. If they sat around thinking about the situation constantly it would drive them insane.
I could say much much more but I won't.......but in future please remember that members of this forum may have friends or relations serving in Iraq before having a go at the armed forces.
Mr CC
you wanna try being in a pressurised enviorment where death is just around the corner
this is a terrorists war based on tactics no used in real war
for those in the video and good luck to them it might be the sole bit of relief theyve had in weeks

Youve had your answer - just shrug your shoulders, agree to disagree and move on. This thread is NOT going to become a slanging match about the rights and wrongs of war.
rolleyes
if you have actually been in the situation they are as my husband was when he was in the forces, which by the sounds of it you havnt seagull, they worry every minute of every day will they see tommorrow and blowing of steam distracts them from this, so no, and also the terrorists were singing and chanting when they cut of that guys head. Theres a big difference from singing a cheery song.

Think you need to lighten up a little seagull, our soldiers are only human and having a little fun and normality doesn't detract from the pain and suffering that people have and still are enduring.
Over the months and years of wars people at home have tried to make the lives of serving soldiers a little lighter with gifts, messages on tv, email and letters and in a multitude of other ways. This seems like it was their way of saying 'we are still sane and not monsters'.
What would you prefer, a video of them sat around crying, rocking backwards and forwards muttering about the evil of war. Maybe pictures of one or two of them in straight jackets. I think not!!!!
All I can say is good luck to them and thankyou for taking the time to bring some sunshine to those of us back home.

Bloody Briliant ! lol What a great moral boost, not only for the soldiers out there but also for their families and other soldiers back home. Made me laugh, but also quite teary, in a good way, to know that they could still keep a sense of humour in such a horrible and scary time for them. Well done lads kiss
 xxx
I'm glad to say that us british have the best sense of humour in the world even under dire circumstances,i for one would love to see the whole video!
Nice one......so funny and i have so much respect for all those soldiers......
cutetips so bloomin right..........................grr
the squadies lot is normally ..overseas ...a shitty one
Just to answer a few of the points raised.
Firstly I have a relative out in Iraq.
Secondly No one forces people to join the Forces. I woud not join the forces as I have no wish to kill or be killed. I believe the troops out threre are just being used as mercenaries for greedy multinationals to make money.
Thirdly. I have nothing against people having a sense of humour especially in a stressfull situation. I myself work on a busy ward dealing with the dead and dying and yes we have a bit of a joke but its kept private so as not to offend anyone. Just try and think how we would feel if we were occupied and saw soldiers laughing and joking.

Just one more. What is a real war confused: One where we go bomb the poor people from miles away with our high tech weapons. Those bloody iraqis don't fight fair do they. :?
sea gull,,,sorry your clueless and too liberal on this one

Sorry but I am not clueless. Do you mean by cleaning up killing people. I love these new words they bring out and by the way who are the terrorists? I think all war is wrong and if that makes me a liberal so be it. Peace and love to you all cool
Anyway!!!!!
it's just been on Radio One that they have been in contact with Comic Relief to discuss bringing the vid out for charidee. Great stuff, eh? Now we can all get it stuck in our heads all over again! All for a good cause and all that though .... smile
yes double tapping ,slotting what ever you prefer
now thats the lot on this thread
Jags will murder you to if you continue to try to argue the pointless point
Ok.....
Firstly, no-one in their right mind wants to be involved in a combat situation, people do not join up to kill people or be killed but they accept that it is a possibility when they take the Queen's shilling.
Secondly, whether the war is right or wrong is not the issue, I personally belive that if Iraq was overflowing with carrots instead of oil no-one would give a toss about it. I'm glad I'm no longer in the forces as I would have a real moral issue if I was sent to Iraq.
Thirdly, the main problem at the moment is with non-Iraqi insurgents, from what I have seen and read the ordinary Iraqi in the British zone is bloody happy that we're there as they were subjugated by Saddam Hussein for a long time and now they at least have a chance for religious and political long-term freedom.
Lastly, the video was intended for private use, you cannot criticise them for making something they thought would never be seen by anyone except their families and friends.

Whether i am arguing the pointless point does not matter but I can agree to disagree and leave it at that smile
