Is it possible?
Is time travel possible?
If it is, I would like to travel back to last night!!lol
Bell x
Of course it is.. Have you never seen the Back to the Future films dunno
If it was though i would like to go back 20 mins so the shops were open and i could get another bottle of Vodka, running a bit low here banghead
Sadly no - according to current theories.
Maybe that will chsnge - but if Profs Brian Cox and Stephen Hawkins say you can't I'm willing not to get into a fight over it. biggrin

If its a fist fight I'll take Stephen!
Seriously tho time is a dimension so, in theory, we must be able to travel in it. But only to the past.
We're all time travellers, it's just that we all travel at a fixed speed and in only one direction. The challenge is to change one or both of those constants. ;-)

Physics!! Loving it!! Always!!
Bell!!
Hmm I hope so! I mean I am running low on rum. If I could time travel back I would still have the same blood alcohol level as I do now but I could drink the rum again. Well useful.

With the whole of existance being infinite and scientists freely admitting that 95% of it is unexplainable , I`m prepared to put my money on just about anything being possible lol

Absolutely. It was long believed that it was impossible to go faster than the speed of sound and that there was some kind of 'barrier' that prevented it. That was a load of ignorant twaddle. In fact the aerodynamic physics chnages as the moving body's speed approaches the speed of sound, but that is totally surmountable. And now (apart from the fuel cost and poor efficiency involved) we are happy to pass this fictional barrier at a whim.
I do wonder what we might discover about the speed of light and its 'barrier that we cannot cross' in the future.
As for time travel, I think I'd just rather have about 6 extra hours in the day or not have to sleep - I'd get so much more done.

I dont think we will ever reach it directly but if we can create 'holes' in space time we may be able to circumvent it
There is a lot yet to be understood about gravity and matter, gravitational force is a lot weaker than it should be, even the big brains cant work out why. Matter, anti matter and dark matter are also things we dont fully understand yet and could lead to an energy source that would dwarf atomic power.
I want to get to the infinite parallel universes first!!
My favorite will be full of recreational fucking and monogamous people will have to go to underground clubs and advertise on websites!

^This^
We're all riding the wavefront of time, surfing into the possible at the speed of light.
Relativity promises the possibility of travel forward in time, but seems we can't go back. Luckily for us, the past is available in the recorded thoughts of those who came before us. We can travel back as far as they allow, given enough imagination.
N x x x ;)
I wish it was because I`d go back 25 years and say "no"
Hind sight is 20/20. But there's a girl in my 6th form....
I'd like to go forward about 100 years and see what the world is like. lol
Personally, I think it's all bollocks and will never happen. Even if we could go back in time, I dont think I would change anything. My past experiences have made me who I am today.
I would quite like to revisit a party we held 2 weeks ago though wink

Very true, while we remain in one place.
... but if we ever get off this rock and head out in the big wide space a time signal from Earth will slow, relative to any time piece on the ship. While any time signal emanating from the destination will speed up relative to the speed being travelled.
Some would claim that to be time travel. I consider it relative motion.
If it was possible to travel back in time, then surely someone would have been back to let us know by now? dunno Unless, of course, the human race became extinct before it got discovered?

I think the best we can achieve is as shown on a BT advert from long ago...
If a nanosecond was a second, a second would last a thousand years.
We still seem to be light years away from improving our concept of time...

doesn't that assume that this is the best place to go for a time traveller. I'm betting loads of folks have invented time travel and they've all fucked off to that parallel dimension Fraser was on about and then forgot all about coming back to tell us.
re the speed of light don't lets forget that scientists once thought the speed of sound was an insurmountable barrier.
oh and lets not forget about the Tachyon ( theoretical subatomic particle ) **warning geek level science**
Time travel must be possible ..... a whole week passed while I was at work today
Time travel is very expensive and there's no economy seats available at the moment!
well im writing this message tommorow to see if i get it today..
Interesting developments here at link below. Is Physics about to be re-written hmmm
