I like to keep fit and to that end I visit a local gym on a regular basis. But I just cannot seem to shift that bit around the middle.
Now I'm not expecting a six pack but it would be nice to see some flattening for my efforts.
I have a good diet and I don't drink a lot. But it just won't go.
Has anyone else had success in this area, and how did you do it?
You might try cutting down your intake of bread, pasta and sweet stuff. Don't eat any carbs after 8pm and see how you go.
you need to do more cardio, its the quickest way of loosing weight and your gut ,,
forget the weights for the minute as when you build muscle around fat it actually makes you look bigger,
good luck.
When you say on a regular basis - is that recently or for years?
When yoiu start regular exercise, be it cardio or weights, if there is excess fat there, you will feel larger..... This is due to the way that fat is broken down, it softens first, therefore feels flabbier and can feel as if you are just wasting your time.
You are not wasting your time, it can take up to six months for some people to see the benefits in an aesthetic way, so please dont give up, it takes time hun wink

>shudder<...a fittness thread...
good luck Bassy
shy's away ... reteats from room!
lp
Sit up are good for getting rid of flabby bit round the tum...or rowing....Also give you bigger biceps too :hunk:
when you find our what gets you there Bassman, sell it as many a person wantgs to know the secret lol. Oh and if theres one for women even better.
I have thought about getting wrapped in cling film as thats meant to be good
You are in good shape anyway my friend so dont buddy worry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know it's difficult sometimes but do your weights then cardio.
Cut beer out as much as poss - drink wine or something else.
Eat very little red meat if any - But you can much on the pink meat lol
THE BEST ONE - take Creatin - take a look at the Science In Sports Web site - the stuff they sell is used by most Premiership football teams and Olympic Athletes - the best kept secret in the world.
Also...the 'hedstart' they sell is THE BEST hangover cure stuff ever. Stock up for Christmas!!
Surgery.
My next cosmetic-job will deffo be lopping bits off, not adding bits on.
HTH
I know how you feel Bassman...
The thing is though not everybody will respond to 'cardio or weight training' in the same way as the next person!
a big factor will be genes but since there's not much we can do about it we only have two other options
I say just two coz fad crazy diets just put the body into shock mode & as a result will 'hoard food' to prevent it happening again, & thats why you will end up bigger than before with the so called diet!
Surgery is a short term option - I cannot see the point of paying thousands for liposuction only to put the weight back on a year later coz the lifestyle that put the weight on in the first place was not changed dunno
Dont you dare lop any bits off vix - I'll give ya a damn good workout anytime!
First thing Mr Bassman will be your diet - I've told everybody I've worked with you can do all the cardio work & weight training you want... but all that will be wasted unless you fuel the body properly!!!
MINIMISE as much as possible ALL processed foods
MINIMISE red meat intake
you don't want anything that will remain in the gut for longer than necessary!
totally flush the body with water aim for 3 liters & more a day - yes you will be hitting the lav every two mins but the body will eventually get used to it!
I advise peeps I have trained to kick start the body metabolism by cardio work first..
low impact aerobics being up there with the easiest way to ease the body into a certain level of fitness
No point in doing gym work if the body cannot stand the work effort!
after low impact aerobics running for stamina & endurance & then to really put the 'cut' into the body I would get them to hit the weights to put that final 'cut' into the physique
during this 'total body transformation' as I like to call it, I like to keep a close eye on the body's development & my clients wishes coz like I mentioned before... there is no hard & fast rule to change your body shape - different strokes for different folks!
Sooooo Mr Bassman what i suggest to you is watch your processed food intake
& 'shock' the body by changing your workout routineas all to often the body will plateau once it gets used to a constant workload.
Good luck Mr B!
Have you thought about a really tight belt biggrin
Then you'll either get a manly chest, or huge bollocks :D
Unfortunately i put my belt on back to front, and ended up with a huge arse lol
What he said!! lol (RPM, that is!)
I still train at my creaky age and know the problem you have, but although you can tone your stomach, if it's covered in a layer of fat, no-one will know how firm it is under the 'cushion'!!
Good luck! :hunk:
Mal
wink
I agree with Vix
Liposuction and a tummy tuck should do it
LOSE SLOWLY! cool
you didn't say how long you have been going to the gym!
it is always a good idea to balance your intake and out going energy ..... get to know your limits and your body limits smile
there are lots of different exercise ..... cycling, swimming, walking, jogging and gym ...all are good (yes, there is also Tennis and badminton etc)!
the gym is good if you want to tone up muscle but if you have (a lot) of fat there to begin with....then it is a good idea to try to loss a bit of weight first
walking, low key ...losses of the hips, legs, thighs, back and stomach (bad point ..time, if raining wet!)
jogging, high key (bad point ..prone to injury if done on hard ground or you have a weak point, if raining wet!)...losses every where
swimming, low key ... losses arms, thighs, legs and stomach (a little) but best of all for women ....pumps up the boobs! (no bad point)!
cycling, low key.... loss legs, back, bum! (bad point ..if its raining you get wet!)
gym, can be low key or high depending on you ...tones up muscle if fat there already then muscle onto fat .....with time the fat goes so i hope you have joined the gym for the next year!
as you will know being a man ... sit ups are the best!
i have done all and still do all of the above, i am still lossing slowing!
