we too have the every other week collections under the guise of recycling, BUT, half the area still has the weekly bin bags & it turns out the council have no intention of changing it?????????
as for fines for not recycling, crap, there is no statute law in this country that says you have to recycle. your council cannot do anything about it if you put all your rubbish in the normal bin (but can get arsey if you put non recyclable rubbish in the recycle bin ( that information came direcect from both the government source & reluctantly from our local council)
as for lack of landfill sites the problem is easily solved. there is a fecking great hole from dover to france, all it needs is a few hundred tons of readymix at the french end, fill it with rubbish then seal this end. a much better use for it, plus it has the advantage that the methane given off could be collected & used as a power source killing two birds with one stone. jeeze, i should run for
