Eldest's school is open. I love the head teacher I think maybe if there is a bomb she wil shut it. Last year it was the only one open! Youngest's nursery is open just reduced by a few hours as I reckon the meals are not being delivered. So from 1pm to 3pm no kids :rascal: Have already agreed on hump time

I got up earlyish, but didn't get dressed until about 30 minutes ago, after a nice soak in a hot bubbly bath.

Hehehe - I got up at 1pm and only just dressed.
In fairness, I was awake at watching the snow and couldn't get back to sleep again lol
*Her*
Was great here watching the kids have fun in the snow. Now looking through friends photos where they painted pictures on the snow or painted snowmen...biggrin
Snow is gonna freeze tonight (according to weather forecast) and I have no intention of going anywhere the rest of this week unless desperate for food!

More snow here :bounce: :bounce:

feckin awful stuff!! can tell you dont bloody drive Mrs!
lots of ice here, very scary having to drive in it sad no choice tho cus work is open even tho the heating isnt keeping us warm enough :(
My road is treacherous but the rest are ok-ish. So no choice but to go to work. Not had a reason to stay off yet. I think we are quite lucky in this part of South Derbyshire. But Asda carpark was terrifying.
There is always one thing that puzzles me...how come nearly everyone else can get to work...but not the teachers? When the schools close most parents have to either find someone to look after the kids or they just can't go to work themselves...well if they can actually get to work but can't...why shouldn't the teachers??

I think most of the schools are closed here cause of heating/safety issues rather than the teachers not going in to work. dunno The police said that people shouldn't travel unless it was absolutely necessary. There's not a lot of point attempting to get to school/work if the roads are blocked. lol

I still think they should try,i mean we all still expect the emergency sevices to get to work,we still expect bus and train drivers to get to work,we still expect people who work in supermarkets to get to work, the list goes on...but not the teachers, they can stay at home!

One of our snowploughs got stuck, the road it was stuck on has been shut for two days. It's one of the main routes down south. If they can't get through it what hope do the rest of us have? :dunno:
How'd you know they haven't tried?

It might be more about meeting Health & Safety and OFSTED requirements, ensuring they have sufficient staff cover :dunno:

:giggle:
It's not just teachers who haven't been in work. One or our partners didn't make it in cause he lives in the sticks. Our IT bod didn't make it in cause she also lives in the sticks. I live a mile and half from work, I wouldn't get away with not making it in.
I suspect you have a beef with teachers and the snow is just an excuse to have a whinge? Or am I mistaken? wink
