I decided to give up Alcohol a couple of months ago and it was not difficult and I feel much better for it and wish I had done it years ago espeically when I think of all the money that was 't say I know what it is like to give up smoking but I wish you well in your attempt. biggrin
Good luck in your quest to kick the weed fem-4- , you will feel so much better for breaking the habit, plus the money that you save will be more enjoyable buying girly-things for yourself lol
Well done and good luck smile I've now been smoke free for 10 months. ONe of the things I found useful was free from this website.

If you download the quitmeter it measures how many days you have quit, the money you have saved and the 'life' you have saved. Hope this is as helpful to you as it was too me :)
thanks again to everyone, managed to get through newyears eve without smoking and still clear today.
thanks triptix, and well done on giving up, after 10 months does it stop feeling so bad, i think i need my brain re programmed, thats the hardset bit for me today is everytime i do something that is associated with smoking i need to smoke. So its deep breaths and so far its passed.

That is fantastic! I used to say to myself, I don't drink battery acid and I don't smoke ciggarettes. The connection began to take in my brain, and I can easily dissassociate with the vile idea now. Good luck and keep it up. Take lots of vitamins to help your body get rid of the toxins. Good luck!!
good on ya,
I know how hard it is but it CAN be done. I've just worked out its almost 11 yrs since I quit, it took me 3 serious attempts to do it tho so dont think cos youve slipped before you will again.
If you really want to you can do it, they say just find something else to doi with your hands instead of holding a ciggy.............well i can think of a few alternatives ...........he he he and as said earlier in the thread it helps to suck on something else too...............oer missus.
pity you so far away would have offered you some hands on friendly help
Anyway I wont wish you good luck cos your not gonna need it ...............this time you can do it and be proud to call yourselfr an EX_SMOKER
keep us appraised of how your doing
 wave drinkies
Keep going Lou and the same to anyone else trying to stop.
Having never started I don't know what you are going through but I got pretty distraught when I realised I couldnt goto the Great British Beer Festival last year as I was on antibiotics at the time so have some sympathy.
Regards
Harry Jones
I went cold turkey 12yrs ago. As a long distance driver I set off for work on Sunday afternoon a smoker(60 a day) and when I came home the following Sat luchtime I was a none smoker. Mrs Husky had put the money I hadn't spent on fags away, and we had a bloody good night out on it.
Don't get me wrong, it wasn't easy, I was an absolute bastard with everyone I met, because I was so stressed out. My jaw ached with chewing gum, I have since put loads of weight on because food tastes so much better, and I am one of the most anti-smoking people you have ever met. strange how it turns out eh?
Stick with it my love, put the money away, new clothes (that don't smell of smoke) new music centre, new tv, new car, all done by me not spending a fortune on fags.
Good luck.
Patches are good.. help to take away all that physiological shite... oh.. loook what i have downstairs...a box full of patches...
good luck fem-4- hope u still going strong keep it up (ahem)
if you haven't already started smoking again, good luck with it and keep going - it's worth it. i gave up about a year ago and found it surprisingly easy, once i decided that i definitely wanted to stop. it's only hard when there's a part of you that wants to start again and you keep thinking about how much you miss it
jason shame on you for thinking i would have started again already lol
it will be 5 days tomorrow
am i od in the fact that i havent actually throwen my ciggarettes out? there sat in the kitchen cupboard, that way i feel i am choosing not to smoke rather then not smoking because i have none????????

No it's the best way then if you decide you want another in a few week's time you don't dash out to the shop and buy a fresh pack. You just get the mouldy old one's out of the cuboard that taste like cr*p trust me it put's you right off them again.
Stick at it smile
did`ut your signature read 'smoking in more ways than one' in the old sh days
i guess your smokin then smile
good luck wiv the givin up...
me gave up 20 a day 10 years ago only cus i stopped enyoying it
however i smoke when drinking sometimes im happy with that
so i suppose you have to ask yourself what you can realistickly stick to without making your life hell
Great news that you have given up smoking. Make sure you put a fiver in the jar at the end of each day and then each month you should have enough money to splash out on the latest vibrator or sex toy that take your desire. Alternativley you can take me out for supper. You should be able to afford it!
Dont stop trying to give up. I stopped for 10 years, smoked again for 3 and have now stopped again for 3 and a hlf years. Your always a smoker butit can ebe licked
Good luck :
Well done hun..... it can be done , i'm proof wink
Stopped smokin one day just over 4yrs ago and not touched one since.
Even now thought i still get the cravings sometimes but just think of something to do with your hands and they soon go away  .... hubby loves it when i get my cravings smile .
Keep going hun you'll feel so much healthier in the long run and your stamina...well biggrin
