Well, what can I say?
There's a war declared on shite posts; pointless posts, one to one chats that should be confined to PM, posts bitching about the quality of replies to ads etc. The Mods aren't going to tollerate this sort of crap anymore.
And then?
Leave requests, (read 'I'm going on holiday').
Head to head posts.
I had this crappy reply......
.....etc.
Now, don't get me wrong; each has it's own comedic points and each has made me giggle. That said, the posts along the lines of 'I'll make u CUM!!!' make me laugh. However, the posters seem to be the guardians of the locked/banned keys. The same guardians who aren't going to tolerate these sorts of post anymore.
The serious point here is this; If this site is to be open for public perusal and free for anyone to join, then the banal posts from chancers should be tollerated. If not, the only other options would be to;
a)Make it a pay to join site or
b)Ensure that the same standards are met throughout
or
c) close the site to new members and create a social club site for rwenty or thirty members.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion!! confused :? :? :?
The banal posts from chancers are allowed. That's because it's a free site and an open forum, and that's how they get to post in the first place.
Doesn't mean they have to be tolerated though, does it? So they get locked, flamed, or just drop off the page.
Who cares dunno
Plenty of restricted access (pay) sites out there if you prefer!
This place works well, and for anyone who doesn't already know it, the majority of activity and interraction goes on away from the forums between members who've got to/are getting to know each other.
What you see here is just scratching the surface.
Now why would anyone want to change the way it is?
wink
Sweet and Sour - I'll agree with you on the "leave requests (Can I go on holidaty)" point - I really cant see the point, funny the first few times but at 5 or 6 a page it seems a pretty pointless exercise.

Dont agree with most of the rest of what you've posted but then I do enjoy the pointless tarting threads even if it is only with a few people - at least other people can join in if they wish.

Think this raises itself at the end of each holiday period lol. The problem is that sometimes we just want to share banal things on here eg when I got ants   lol. The reason being that I was looking at this as a place to gossip with my mates. SH does get you really hooked and sometimes banal is okay. I havent worked out what is good or bad on here - what I do know is its personal too me anyway. I read more these days than contribute because I am always too dam sober and have about an hour a week of free time lol.
Only things that get locked are those that mods think quite rightly are of limited interest, offensive or illegal really. I have always supported the mods and know that if I want total free speach then I should set up my own web site lol .
I have always been of the opinion that as its an unpaid job mods are doing a great job with no reward other than being part of a great site. And I think the mods are human arent they and may make decisions which are also based on their own values as well as SH rules.

What 40 Tonnes of 'em??
Mind you, on a serious note, Corrie's right - it is all very subjective - so by definition, any intervention will be controversial. Live with it and get on past it I say - none of it is that important and we've got the best set of mods going - no doubt!!

I am speaking as a person here, not a mod :eeek:
Personally I think the leave application threads serve a useful purpose on a forum where a lot of the regs know each other in RL. If someone is a reg and they are on here posting most days, and then they suddenly stop posting for, say, two or three weeks, you're bound to get people wondering where they are. Sarge's leave application form gives people the chance to say they are going to be away for a while in a light hearted and funny way. I submitted one myself today, just for a laugh really, but also to tell the forum- without sending loads of PMs that I'm not going to be here next week. It is obvious by the titles of such threads what they are, and if you don't like them don't read them dunno
I also posted the crappy replies thread that sweet and sour commented on. Yes, it was a bit of a whinge on a subject that has been done to death in various forms, but it said so on the very first line so people could stop reading there and then if they wanted. As it was, it got some decent replies and gave me the opportunity (good or bad) to voice what I thought was a good and bad reply.... maybe somewhere along the line that will help guys with their own replies confused ... Yeah, maybe I did over-step the mark slightly by posting actual replies and I'll take the flak if any of those guys complain :uhoh:
More generally, this is an open forum where people can post more or less what they want. Subjects that get done over and over get locked, threads that have hardly any content at all get locked, and obviously the mods lock or delete anything that is against the site rules. Other than that, the cafe is one for people to enjoy. If people don't like the content it is up to them to make it better.... if the forum is boring, simply post something more interesting or don't read it at all!
In my view this forum is lively and by far the best swingers forum out there. The reason for that is cos it displays a community spirit. I've been on other forums and found them dry and lifeless. I agree the SH forums are perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, but no-one HAS to stay! Newbies sometimes complain about the "in-crowd" but any that stick around and read some of the threads before they post for the first time, and then make an effort to join in with humour and personality quickly become part of that "in crowd"... I can think of two members who are new to posting on the forum that got invites to the Manchester social on Wednesday- those people in my mind are now every much members of SH as those that have been here for a year or more 8-) .
This forum works. End of. We have had loads of debates about what to and what not to post, but at the end of the day it is up to YOU what happens here and sitting around whinging about the quality of threads (or lack of) only looks like exactly that - a whinge :? :? :?
Well as you're well aware it'll take more than a few people posting about their Hols to get rid of me. lol

SweetandSour, you've already said ages ago that you're not sure if this is the right place for you to be. Yet you've endured the forum for this long dunno
For what its worth..
Its the weird and irrelevant posts that first got me addicted to coming on the forum here.. Maybe its just my sense of humour but I find most of them hilarious.. I've laughed out loud sat at my computer on umpteen occasions (much to bemusement of the work mate I share the house with)..
So I say.. lets have more of the strange, the odd, the bizarre and the downright hatstand posts.. It's what makes this forum such a unique and wonderful place to be.
biggrin

They're lucky buggers. I can't get away! Eeeeeeeeeek!
My bloody laptop's part of me and goes away with me (plus GPRS datacard for internet access). So I can never escape! blink
When I want to go away from here for a bit of peace and quiet I have to go and lurk under the bottom of the stone staircase in the rather dilapidated East Wing of SH Towers (you know, the one that goes down to the stableyard). It's a bit tatty down there but I like it! redface surprisedops:
Now that reminds me that I've been meaning to check with Mark that there aren't any plans to give it a makeover. :scared: :scared:

It would seem that you don't really like it here do you?
I also noticed that you started this thread then went off-line, not even waiting to see any replies.
I am now locking this as it is just going over the same old ground.
