Don't know muxh about maths, but I can see there are a limited number of numbers you end up with - 81, 72, 63, 54, 45, 36, 27,18, or 9. Can someone else take it from there?

No matter what numbers you choose, you'll always get an answer that is a multiple of 9. All the multiples of 9 have the same symbol beside them.
The magic card trick is similar, but better:

It worked when I was looking at the symbol but not when I wasn't looking at my screen dunno

It doesn't work if you have less than 2 digits as you always end up with 0, and it's a 1 in 100 chance of getting that symbol.

First time I did it - thought.....that was cool
Second time.........made me sit forward in chair
third time.......exclaimed no way!!!
Then read the divisble by 9 explanation. suddenly all became clear.

Near where I used to live was a pub that hired a hall out for functions.
Every two months, a sign went up saying "Next Sunday: Psychic Fair, 1100 - 1500"
I always thought to myself ..... why advertise if it is a Psychic Fair ??

It uses the number 9 repetition. Also the grid changes with each attempt so it confuses you at first.

well!! i'm stumped!!! i have wayyyy too much time on my hands obviously cos i've just sat and done the magic cards one umpteen times for the last twenty minutes, and I'm still clueless as to how its done! I can usually beat these things when they're psychology based, perceptual set etc - so this one's got to be soooo simple its mind-blowingly complicated - know what I mean?
anyway, enlighten me please cos this is gonna drive me insane now til I know the secret!

All the cards are removed, and the 4 you see the second time around are all different, The trick relies on you thinking the other ones are 'just a bunch of 7s, 8s and 9s' rather than remembering exactly which ones.

colin fry is very believable too. am i gullible ? i dont think so - although i do not believe in heaven and hell, i do think there is something after death.
