American Idiot has pride of place in the cd collection..... i adore Green Day.... but perhaps you should also listen to some Blink182 also.....
equi-princess xxx
Find most Blink182 songs sound too similar to me...didnt realise they had enough songs to make a greatest hits cool
music is a very personal thing and i would never dream of slagging someone off about like or dislikes..............BUT blink 182 are not in the same league as Green Day. on the original post which started this topic the auther said that he expected some 3 chord rubbish! Blink 182 are a sort of Green day wannabee band and far to american sounding for my tastes. There are a tonne of bands who would love to be Green Day and admittedly Blink 182 are problably one of the better imitators but they aren't green day and never will be
Just getting to them too..my daughter seems to like them too..........pulling teeth pretty damn good song teppic biggrin
agree with boosh ...what someone loves someone else will think is crap....doesnt mean either is good or crap...all down to taste
someone agrees with me............... im shocked, first time for everything i suppose! thanks though. lol

welcome........not often anyone agrees with me either lol
I love it when they get members of the audience up on stage to play.
When I saw them their set lasted about an hour, but they only played about seven songs with all the banter, even so it was excellent.
when i saw them at t in the park this year they had some kids up on stage playing with them! the daily record had them in the paper after it (the kids) lucky that they could all play! im sure there were a few with their hands up (including my girlfriend) who were doing it more out of bravado than anything else! I would hav had my hand up too but i had snuck of with my mate to watch the prodigy by the time they did that!
hehe

I agree with you, I have more time for Green Day than the second division 'Oi' bands that came at the tail end of punk in the late 70s/early 80s, now they really were the pits. Green Day are fine at what they do.....it's just they do still sound to me as a SLF tribute band and, as has already been pointed out, SLF are still touring so I just meant the original is always better than the real thing. Take the Gang of 4, for instance, recently reformed and as wonderful/powerful as ever (seen them twice this year) they make 'copyist' bands like Franz Ferdinand look pale in comparison.
Yes, love Green day, been listening to them for over ten years now. Favorite album has probably got to be Dookie.
Don't think my neighbour likes them though.......not after halving them blasted through the wall at 3am a couple of weekends ago rolleyes

aarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Ah Green Day on of my all time faves too, first saw them about 1993 before dookie came out at a small club in London Town. They where touring the Kerplunk album which is cracking really raw sounding and the track "dominated love slave" is an all time fave lol.!
If any one likes green day they should also try NOFX and Bad Religion who are both inspirations to them!
Cheers

Green day are deserving of the praise they get because
1) Brilliant music
2)Time they've been on the scene
3)There total disregard for political correctness shite

ye-hah! I have always liked that song..... Marquis de Sade meets country :P
As a public service!
"Dominated Love Slave"
I want to be your dominated love slave
I want to be the one that takes the pain
You can spank me when I do not behave
Mack me in the forehead with a chain
Cause I love feelin' dirty
And I love feelin' cheap
And I love it when you hurt me
So drive them staples deep
I want you to slap me and call me naughty
Put a beltsander against my skin
I want to feel pain all over my body
Can't wait to be punished for my sins.
Cause I love feelin' dirty
And I love feelin' cheap
And I love it when you hurt me
So drive them staples deep
Yee-hah!
Cause I love feelin' dirty
And I love feelin' cheap
And I love it when you hurt me
So drrrriiiveeee.....Staples?
I thank you

Total misunderstand of the term (and origin) of the 'Political Correctness'. This term was invented by the 'right-wing media' to mock people of left/liberal persuasion who just happen to believe in freedom and equality for everyone regardless of their race, religion, gender, sexuality etc. As 'Green Day. seem a pretty politically aware band to me, I would say they would fall exactly into the category of people that the right-wing media would like to mock mad

Thank you Jason, glad someone has a sensible view on this misunderstood term which is actually just a term of abuse for anyone who cares for the freedom and equality of all people.
Ever travel to Bristol Jason? wink
