You know when you lie on your back sunbathing, the sun must shine up your nostrils, right?
Well..........................does this mean that you get a suntan inside your nose? :dunno

Just had another thought - if this sunburn of the nose really does exist, it could explain the absence of one of our SH regulars in here lately - it's been very sunny in Leeds. :uhoh:

Only if the skin on the inside of your nose contains whatever pigment it is in the rest of your skin that reacts with UV sun rays. Possibly. I'm not a dermatologist, so my answer is so far from difinitive that it may not be worth the paper it's not written on. Ummm...

no mike, i can confirm that even though i have been working on a back garden tan so i'm all bronzed and sexy in an adonis kinda way for future events, the nasal hair does offer some protection from internal sunburn. biggrin

as an aside, i'm growing a beard for the first time in my life, and a certain person was kind enough to point out that it disguises my nasal hairs quite well, in an arthur scargill comb over it all merges into a single piece of bumfluff kind of way! :lol2:

Not having that pigment ( ) would stop you getting a tan, not a burn.

I reckon it depends on how big your nose is and what angle the nostrils are.
If in doubt, get a friend to look up your nose and check :shock:

thought this was a very interesting question so i checked it with a friend who is a dermatologist:
the inside of your nose does not contain any melonin so you cant get a tan however it is light sensitive and you can get it sunburnt.
hope that awnsers it :idea:

what about after you have blowen your nose cleaned out the imac and dicarded the tissue and have a clear nose without bogies or hairs
By then the sun will have gone in and it will be time for bed as you'd have had quite a full day.

I was going to say that you could put Factor 30 up yer nose and you'd then have ablocked nose, but having seen what just went before - I don't think I will.
