Three nuns have each. They buy a TV which cost , leaving them with no money.
The manager tells the shop assistant that the TV only cost and he is to give them their money back. So...he runs after the nuns and tells them that he overcharged them. He gives each nun and keeps
So each nun has paid each....
3 x = plus = ..
So where is the other £1 ?

Cos I don't - doing me head in :lol2: :lol2:
How about this ?
TV = £25
3 nuns with £1 ea. = £3
Assistant = £2
Total = £30
If you split the cost of the TV 3 ways:
25/3 =
The nuns paid each.
9 minus = x 3 ( nuns )= ~ £2 ( Assistant got this )
Hope that makes sense.

Its meant to, its a deliberately misleading question. I love this one. lol Its a great riddle/joke to use at a party. When it was told to me a few years ago the aim of the other person was to see how many times we would do the same sum and come up with the same question, 'wheres the other pound?' But the question is wrong, they never paid £9 each. Its a clever twist and unless its spotted (and it almost never is until its explained) you will go round and round in circles! Great fun haha
