I`m worried about my oldest son who for different reasons I wont go into just now is arranging via his laptop to meet with other boys to fight...now to find out where these meets are taking place i need to access his chat logs but because he has password enabled his laptop i cant access it, i can access his lap top through the guest slot but ?????...can any one help?
My daughter forgot her password once and luckily as we have a dell computer they were able to reset the password for us online and directly onto the machine and it cost £60.
I'm not really a tech person, but is there any local computer shops you could take it to see if they can help, but then again if the machine is password protected I bet hes got passwords for everything like email etc etc.
take the laptop to your local pc repair shop where they can reset passwords etc it is fairly simple if you have the correct software but it will also depend on how 'simple' or complicated the password is. ie. if it is just a word then it can take 5 mins. but if it is more secure ie a combination of lower case and upper case latters and also has numbers then it is more time consuming ... but still can be done.
good luck in searching for the information you need but also is the chatlogs saved on the pc or as i have it set to not save conversations in msn etc

Take the laptop off him till he starts behaving.
also why does he have the main account and you are the 'guest' surely it should be the other way around for you setting parental controls etc .... btw how old is the lad ii am just assuming he is under 16 and would need such supervision. if older than this then give him back the laptop and dont get the password decrypted because this is a hornets nest and he an 'adult'
There is a program out there that removes all passwords on accounts i have this program and will let you know what it is called but you have to boot from cd drive to this to work.
