i am fed up of the american remakes of every single Ring type film thats been done...........ive gotten into watching more TV series DVD of late (specially after my hectic film watching year of 2005)
Stone me - did I see the same 'King Kong' everyone else saw and hated???
This was brilliant  - Peter Jackson really knows how to get his actors to put in performances that aren't drowned by the special effects. I mean - you try staring into thin air and look terrified! :eeek: :eeek:
Jackson was faithful to the original, but he got his own message across - that the Depression made beasts of people. That was my take on the significance of the opening shots of the soup kitchens in Central Park.
Still, Jackson wisely glossed over the sillier parts of the story - I mean, how did a handful of survivors get ten tons of gently snoring gorilla :taz: out of the cave and onto the ship?
King Kong was ok.. Nice to look at but the middle section on the island just went on and on. Needed to be snappier like the original. My bum was numb by the end.
king kong voted the no1 film of 2005 by the general public..........enough said.
anyway, who wants sex? lol
i agree with horny bunny! i saw the chronicals of narnia recently and it braught back all sorts of memories of the tv series and the books which i saw/read when i was a kid.
other decent films ive seen recently - Wallace and Gromit - curse of the ware rabbit, 40 year old virgin.
avoid "the corpse bride" at all costs. i took my girl and i nearly got dumped for falling asleep and snoring in the cinema! thats all the thanks i got for buying the tickets, all the popcorn and driving up to edinburgh and back! i need a new girlfriend. lol

that reminds me ive still not seen "serenity" thats one ive been meaning to watch for a couple of months. i loved the "firefly" series.
Serenity was pretty good. I think its a safe bet that if you like Firefly you will like Serenity
thanks for the info mate. im pretty sure ill agree with you when ive seen it. i think ill end up waiting for the dvd to come out at this rate.
i thought king kong was a good film...jus thought that they stretched too many scenes and made them to long....i.e. when they were being chased by the dino's. it took abt 30 mins just to run round the corner!! mad
but apart from that....TOP FILM...if anyones not seen it....GO
not fussed by kong, but i did love narnia......personally last year loved crash, sin city and batman begins
however, if u like shitting urself, Saw 2 and Wolf Creek (head on a stick) are well worth a viewing!!!
In short I thought:
Kong: Patchy, but overall great.
Narnia: Decent, but didn't quite have the 'magic' it should of.
Harry Potter: Excellent, though maybe I just liked the Beaubatons girls...
I enjoyed individual performances rather than films themselves; Jack Black, Tilda Swinton and whoever (over)played Mad-Eye Moody in Potter were great.
If you want a decent film from 2005 then I say get down to the DVD shop and watch Sideways. Or, if you want a quirky film watch Napolean Dynamite.
We all watch way too many kids films on here...
Cheers

Blimey.............the last thing I went to see at the cinema was Godzilla.............I HATE going to the cinema, being surrounded by other people talking, rattling bloody sweet bags and generally ruining my enjoyment. I just wait til they come out on DVD and rent them...............got a 33inch TV with surround sound, so almost as good as the cinema..and NO OTHER PEOPLE!
Peter Jackson Kong was over long I admit but was an amazing movie, I continually end up fighting this corner about fantasy films, no-one seems to have "suspension of disbelive" once they leave school. Thats probably why Eastenders and Corry is so popular (because its exaggerated real life, i live real life, why would i want to watch it?)all you nah sayers need a kick up the ass.
As with the super hero movies, Of course the origins have to be explained otherwise you'd be complaining about "that kids who shoots sticky stuff from his wrists and can leap huge distances.. how does he do that?... its so over the top"
Best film of 2005 - SERENITY
