Limewire is a virus hot spot all i can say is be careful
GONE, can get it again if I need it but seemed not to give the required results.
I've always used Limewire and so did my boss - head technician of a pc clinic - and neither of us have had any issues regarding viruses.
There is a lot of porn on there but you kind of learn to suss out which is which before downloading. Don't ask me how - I've only ever accidently d/l porn once! Guess I've been lucky?
i personally got limewire as a free be, then of course downlaoded Limewire Pro from it.
I beleive ina nswer to teh first question, if you go to advanced search you can turn off adult content.
also if you click on the options tag and go to filters you can filter out a number of (common virus filetypes) and also theres a clickbox for removing adult content from your searches.
I also use Opera which is just as good and works as limewire but also as a bit torrent.
Now some say theyve had problems with viruses, simple make sure your protected.
They are both great at downloading mp3's usually 20 secs to 1 minute for a music video.
if your looking for videos i.e.e films its basicly a downlaod and hope its the right film. As some stupid people think its funny to change the filename of an older film for what your looking for.
main thing is being careful and rooting out the spam etc.
if your looking for specifically music there is better software availible
that works better and sometimes quicker too
We changed from kazaa to limewire as our virus protector thingy kept finding spyware and viruses on kazaa. On limewire we never get any but we've just got rid of limewire and got frostwire. It;s an upgrade from limewire.
Miss Cream xxx
maybe you lot can help me.... I use shareaza are there better ones out there.... i haven't had any problems with virus's but i always keep my anti-virus's up to date
iv used all the shareware software programmes and found imesh 4 was the best no viruses accurate file names and latest files. but then they went and updated it and now its just crap. limewire is ok but it slowly kills your p.c. dunno bout mac. doesnt matter what antivirus software you use 1 day something new pops up. im not sure but i heard on a forum somewhere music companies and movie studios purposely put bugs on files to prevent free downloading. as for checking your content download vlc media player it will play any media file even partially downloaded files therefor u can check to see what u are downloading is genuin or not. the best things out there at the mo are streaming sites their hard to find but when u do u can stream movies music etc etc without bugs or having to wait for dloads to complete. second option use u torrent.
I use WinMX for years til the MPAA shut it down. Since then I've used Bittorent. Word of advice for these trackers tho, only use private trackers i.e. NOT mininova. The way that the MPAA and RIA are shutting down P2P networks and public trackers such as Mininova, Pirate Bay etc is to flood the networks with fake files. This is especially true with the newest movie releases. The powers that be can them retreive private info such as IP addresses etc. Of course this can be gotten around by using an proxy but the vast majority don't know how to do this, thus making themselves prey for the big boys who are trying the protect the film, music etc companies. For movies only get Scene releases; that is the guys n gals who actaully code these movies up and put them on private trackers. Public trackers are too dangerous to use now. Limewire is OK if you know wht you're doing but for anything major, please use a private tracker.
when we swapped from limewire to frostwire and the first time i went into frostwire it had all my old downloads that i had on limewire...as mallock said...it's the first one that comes up on google.
just to agree with what has already been said..limewire does seem to bring a number of problems with it, and virus' a plenty...
but i guess as long as you have good protection you should be okay! (no pun intended! lol)
