It's a case of being a bit of a NIMBY I suppose. As long as the club is not affecting me in anyway that I am not bothered.
However I can see the point of the residents, and irrespective of how well intentioned the place is, or whether any rules may or may nor have been broken in terms of sexual entertainment and alcohol licensing laws, the bottom line is I would not choose to live opposite a swingers club.
Some will agree and somee will not - but that is my view for what it's worth.
being a chorley resident and knowing the area very well, it must be pointed out that opposite the club is a carpark, and caravan showroom, next door is a car storage place.
no houses are next door or opposite! the street were the complaints are from is round the corner and the club isnt visible from there mill was run down for years with various business starting up then disapearing so a business that might actually last wont do any harm. its not as if people take there sexual activity onto the streets.
all this has acheived is making a quiet private operation into a well known one and may now attract the idiots!
Is Chorley even a real place then............
When I saw the name of the forum thread I thought it was relating to an article I saw in the local newspaper. I dunno these swingers making the news papers all the time he he he
my problem would be..I would be constantly at the window....looking out..seeing who was going in !!..lol
Why wouldn't you want to live next door to a swinging club? same reason I wouldn't live next door to a dance club (or pub for that matter) Drunk/Noisy/Excited people in and out at all hours... Simple, nothing against the stigma etc, yes if it was widly known, then I'm sure it would probably bring house prices down (same as a pub or industrial unit does), but let's be honest, most of us have been to a club, and being a T-Totaler I can say with absolute certaintly that most people that leave are not quiet or for that matter, appropriate in their leaving conversations (appropriate for a nice neighbourhood that is)
Simple as that, and even though people don't want to say the same thing, it's the reason few of us would volunteer to live next door.
What may be of more concern is the growing association of swinging with such venues. Its not one that swingers wished upon themselves. Up until recent years swinging was home based or operated within private clubs; and rarely if ever caused any kind of public nuisance.
So I wonder when these things go wrong who the scapegoats are going to be?
