I thought i would make the subject more advertising. lets see if it works.
Hi my name is James and i am looking to make friends. Am single and now your thinking oh not another single guy. Ive been single all my life. Gets annoying sometimes because it would be nice to have someone to snuggle up to. Also am a bit shy, that's probably the main reason why am still single.
Anyway am looking to make some friends, because it would be nice to be able to talk to someone and go out places. Also be able to go out for a drink. Something different for a change.
I live near St Helens in Merseyside. Can travel just about anywhere.
My hobbies are listening to music, chatting online, computers, driving around the countryside, Going on long walks around the countryside or even around the sea side. ive got a GSOH. I am a good listener so if you want to get something off your mind and just want someone to listen to you, i am ya man.

You have certainly got the manners and attitude to make friends quickly on here.
I can attest that if you stick around, you can overcome your shyness. I was very lacking in self confidence when I first joined (I can here the gasps of disbelief in the Cafe now). But the internet is a great leveller. Age, race, religion, gender, appearance are secondary concerns. It's your inner self which matter on here and who people warm to. If your first post is anything to go by, you will find that friendship you want.
