winchy I work within the NHS & with collegues who do hypnotise clients who suffer with PTSD & other reasons.
never had it done myself though
I went to a guy over 20 years ago to stop smoking. I was on at least 40 a day. No 6 King Size with vouchers. Had 2 sessions costing about £10 each and have never smoked again. He put me under, told me that I would be violently ill no matter where I was, what I was wearing or who I was with. Have never wanted to attempt to prove him wrong.

I havent been hypnotised or know anyone that has but I am thinking about it to try and help mestop smoking..
Anybody can be hypnotised you just have to want to. The hypnotist only guides you into hypnosis. You take yourself into hypnosis. We go into hypnosis naturally all the time. Have you ever been driving and suddenly can't remember the last 5 - 10 minutes or so and yet you have driven safely? You were in hypnosis. Have you ever been so engrosed in a book or the TV that you did not hear somebody saying your name until the said it for the third or fourth time? You were in hypnosis. In hypnosis you loose awareness of your suroundings and concentrate on one thing.
The hypnotherapist does not have some sort of wierd control over you once you are in hypnosis. You will remember everything that happened during the hypnosis session.
An decent hypnotist will make sure you are in hypnosis before he or she carries on with their work.
Anyway hypnosis is now old hat. The new one is Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT for short. With EFT you are fully awake but it does still deal with the subconcious mind like hypnosis.
Ah right I get it now, thanks Dark. I've heard of something similar before and its said that emotional blockages can cause physical problems too.
I'm off to watch "trust me I'm a healer" in 10 mins! Fascinating programme if at times a bit far fetched.

My wee sister used to suck her thumb when she was younger, which carried on into high school. She used to do it all the time, even when she was in classes ( I don't know how anyone didn't take the piss out of her for it a t the time!)
My parents tried everything, all that minging tasting nail polish on her thumb nail, shouting at her, ignoring it etc, then our friend who is a gp suggested trying hypnotherapy that he was trained in.
He used the technique on his own daughter who had chronic arthritis, any time she felt pain from it, she could say a little rhyme that he'd used during the hypnotherapy and it would help to dampen down or take away her pain.
Anyway, having sucked her thumb up to the age of 14, it worked wonders and she stopped immediately!
The effects now seem to have worn off though now she's 22 and she doesn't give a shit, so she's back to it now, but it certainly stopped her at the time!
I would love to try it in a stage show as i am often skeptical about them, and the ridiculous things you're made to do- i suppose it's something you have to experience for yourself.
I do believe in general that hypnotherapy works, and i often do relaxation therapy - which works like a type of hypnotherpy, for patients that have chronic pain and can't get away from it.
The regression therapy I'm not so sure about- did you go to france before or after it?!?!?!?!
