we started posting on here in december and just after our third or fourth post I went out for a while and some dirty heroin addict nicked our computer (and my sons playststation) we are now having to resort to using my mums computer when we stay over (and she's not in!!) as we had no insurance ( we weren't working at the time but we both just got new jobs wehey!!) anyway nearly lost my point then. Has anyone else got a little sick of the yobbish society in which we now have to tiptoe around for fear of being burgled/aped/murdered or happyslapped ? Are there any good people out there who just want to enjoy life left?
Oh yeah just to top it all off I knew who did it but the police couldn't arrest him as they didn't have enough evidence!! His family live opposite and every time I see him it makes my blood boil and I have to calm my bloke down to stop him from hitting him (cos you can guarantee we would be arrested!!)
Anyway hello again everyone hope to get to know you all better before the next tosser comes along!!

This was my evidence ( I understand what you mean but it's so obvious it's this guy)
I caught him peering through my window and trying the handle when I took too long to answer the door one day not long b4. His girlfriend saw me in the street and kept asking why I was in all day and did I ever go out (I wasn't working at the time) The day it happened he overheard me telling someone I wasn't going to be in for an hour (and he knew my boyfriend was at work), I know he's burgled the same house twice before and has been done for loads of other burglaries. He used to come over and ask to borrow a light or something similar (probably was hoping I was out and when I answered the door used it as an excuse) he hasn't been round since it happened.
I know it's all heresay but what do ya reckon?
Anyway I'm not complaining too much cos I really don't like the guy and hated answering the door to him when smiffy was out so it was probably worth it just to avoid that but I just hate the fact that wankers seem to have it easy and I've always worked for what I have (the only times I've been unemployed in the last 11yrs we're last december and when I had my son) It annoys me that he's benefitted from it.
Anyway rant over. I don't moan this much normally honest....ask my hen pecked bloke

I am of the school of thinking that it's not the heroin addict who is "dirty", its the drug itself - and the amount of crap and substances it's cut with that gives addicts the stereotypical 'dirty addict' label.
What you need to remember before ranting about dirtly lowlife scumbags etc etc etc and all the other names that addicts are usually called, is that itISan addiction and it is the all-encompassing need for a fix that is the power behind the action.

I've had a friend die in my arms choking on his own vomit after OD'ing on smack, I've seen lives completely destroyed by drugs, herion in particular. The thought I keep in the forefront of my mind, is what you are dealing with is the drug itself, and its aftermath, and the person in the middle of it all.
Be angry at the lack of service provision for addicts , at the lack of doctors who are willing to prescribe a substitute such as Methodone, be angry at the Government who refuse to fund recovery programmes for addicts and truthful honest drugs education in schools. But Dont treat other human beings like they're the shit on the bottom of your shoe.

very well said hisandhers there are many addicts about be it illegal or legal drugs cigs or alcohol & to wish anyone dead for being addicted to something is well out of order & yes i have also lived in shared houses with h addicts in the past & have never had any complaints he was one of the nicest blokes you would ever want to meet so please dont put someone down just because he has a problem

I have witnessed the effects of drugs (not me, but a close family member) so know what all of you are referring to both from a support environment and the effect it has on family and friends. Unfortunately you are all right in your own way! But as with everything else, we cant generalise, everyone is different!

The main problem is that most people, householders, tax payers, joe blog on the street and the little old lady round the corner only see what they want to see - they dont see heroin (and other hard drugs) use as a societal problem, they see the problems the 'addicts' cause - such as street crime and burglary. It's far easier to lay blame on those we may feel are 'insignificant low lifes' than to look around our own selfish lives and the way things are in this country.
But you must understand that these actions are due to the drug - the substance addicts physically and mentally cannot function without. There are addicts & users in all sections of society, on all different substances - but in the main, most most are people who have little left to lose in life and heroin in particular is the one that will finish the job if the addict cannot access help & support.
I'm not for one minute saying we should feel sorry for 'addicts', that its ok for people to rob you and steal your property to fund their habit - what I feel is that each time they do, it takes them another step closer to destroying their veins, to catching Hep B and septacemia, to ending up having limbs amputated through gangrene, to losing their family and friends and usually eventually their life. If you cannot feel avenged enough by that thought, I would usually say then perhaps it is you who has a problem.
To some people addicts will always be 'dirty lowlife scum', but please, dont make that assumption because the media and the rest of society tells you to. We have to agree to disagree as always.
