OK all. I am getting married to Bassman in February 2007 (!!!!) and have seen all sorts of adverts for free "Wedding Make-UP" makeover tips in big department stores (Debenhams, John Lewis etc) by top names such as Clinique and Clarins. I would love to have an "expert" do my make up for me so I look just gorgeous on the day (but maybe not like me though confused )
What I want to know is has anyone ever tried Dept store makeup/make-over stuff and was it any good - and if so any recommendations ???
Thanks
Bernie xxx
Congrats hunni xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Both of ya
Wouldnt know on that score hunni but u will look beautiful anyway xxxxxxxxx
Go to which ever store/ or several that takes your fancy now, and explain your worries, and get them to do a test run now, then if you don't like it, you will be able to change it with plenty of time for next year.
DON'T leave it to the last minute.

DON'T leave it to the last minute.

Won't the make up smudge if you get it done the day before!! wink
Angelica did this recently I'll get her to say if she learnt anything. She looked fabulous!
Sarah's advice sounds good though - get as many freebies as you can beforehand. One thing I know they do is keep a record of what they do - so that if you really like it you can either just go in and get it again or get the materials and try it yourself.
Jeez, I never thought I'd end up here talking make up with the girlies on the site!! redface
.
very good advice Tune!!!!
As you know Bernie it takes me 2 seconds to put on makeup so I have no idea    any good advice on here I will also be following up on lol
Congrats to the both of you ! :inlove:
My own wedding was due a few months after I left my job and as a leaving pressie they gave me a voucher for a local beauty shop which was a godsend ! You know the sort of place where they do hair, nails, waxing etc and they did a wedding special. Went along for a practice session the same day as my hen night so my make up was done ready for the evening. On the morning of my wedding I had the works done, make up, nails everything and they did a fab job.
Well worth the £50 it cost too
Can I help????
:bounce:
lol
Congratulations hunnie kiss
Personally I would choose a beauty salon as opposed to a department store.
Alot of places have special wedding packages and you can either go to them or they'll come to your house on the day.
They usually do a trial run so you can see what it looks like before the day!!!
I agree with HLB, i would go for a beauty salon, we did this for my sisters wedding, had a trial run few weeks before hand, and they will do your make up as many times as u like untill your happy with it, and she came to us the morning of the wedding, gave us some free samples to, to touch up are make up through out the day.
Oh and congartulations to u both biggrin

I did this for my son's wedding. I went to Debenhams. The guy who did me had made up celebs in London and he used the Stila range, which I hadn't used myself before.
The results were good and what Tune says about them keeping records is right ( I had to say that so he feels he's making a contribution! rolleyes )
Congratulations and good luck!

Wedding! :bounce: Congratulations! biggrin
Make-up.... deffinately go for a practice run before hand telling them what its for and will you be able to have it done on the day etc?? It might be free trials now, but when your wedding comes around it might be booked up or something. They'll be able to advise you. smile
Good luck and many best wishes from us both again! :D
kiss
If you were wanting to try a new look, I personally would go to a Department store. I prefer Debenhams and always use Clinique makeup. The beauty consultants can try a variety of different colours/shades on you free of charge. I always ask them to show me how and where they have applied the makeup, so if I like what they have done, I can recreate it again.
Go for it Bernie, its your special day kiss
