I'm reaching that age where I shall be having one...not looking forward to it as I remember my Mum saying *imagine having your breasts run over by a steam roller* That's what it feels like! confused :?
Oh, and I guess you have to take any piercings you have out?
Anyone here had one?

A piercing? :P

Put it this way - my Mum only has to have one now, since the breast cancer.
Seriously, it shouldn't hurt but she tells me it is uncomfortable. There certainly shouldn't be any bruising.

Thats more or less what my Mum said last week
Being a guy, my view is that a little discomfort is probably worth it for peace of mind.
Found out yesterday that my little sis has to have a lump removed next week, so its probably at the front of my mind right now sad
Dont worry Anais...When I had my first one..lots of women told me the same..."It will hurt like hell!"..but, I didnt feel a thing biggrin
Second time did hurt a bit though!! but wasnt too bad!!
Its worth it though for peace of mind!! Good luck

I'm sure you'll be OK. kiss I've heard that some women feel nothing but others do have some discomfort.
Either way, just think of the girlies who'd love to be able to have one.
.
I had to drag my mum along to her first one. They found a small lump which she would never have found by self examination. It turned out to be cancer but it was caught so early, 20 years on, she's still here to tell the tale.
How old do you have to be to get one?
I've had a bit of an issue lately and have to go back after the year to get checked again.
I've just bid a fond farewell to my nipple piercing yesterday... there were tears!
I was also told they hurt like hell, and I was really worried about it. With having larger boobs, I expected it to be extreamly painful and I am a wimp when it comes to pain.
However, I have to say, I was very suprised at just how unpainful it was. Yes, it was bloody uncomfortable, and I didnt realise my boobs would actually go so flat, but I would not describe it as painful. The worst part was walking round in that horrible dressing gown the hospital gave me to wear, and carrying my own clothes in a tesco shopping basket (cheap skates over in Wigan, dont provide lockers for day patients).
Not a clue about the piercing, but I guess you would need to remove it.
As for the pain, I would prefer a mamogramme before a smear any day, and smears are not that bad, just uncomfortable wink
I've had one and it was mildy uncomfortable but didn't hurt. I'm rather on the small side so it took a while to get it sorted lol
hiya
i had to take my piercings out
and yes uncomfy but well worth gettin the all clear smile

Hiya NGDE  Thanks for the offer - I know where to find you wink
Thank you all for the replies... look like the piercings go, takes me ages to get them back in so might leave them out for good
Think I'm more nervous than anything :scared: breast cancer maybe hereditary in our family (family mapping still being done). Silly really as its better that I have it done than not.
DG - hope all goes well with you kiss
I'm wondering how they'll do one on me. I'm not exactly blessed in that department redface
*Her*
Anais,
it's better to be safe than sorry hun.
I had one done last week and i would say it was uncomfortable, but its more a feeling of the skin above your breast being stretched than the fact that they can make your boobs go flat and boy i didnt realise they would get them that flat!!! I agree about the gown and shopping basket being worse though lol Essex is tight with its lockers too.
On a plus point my piercings stayed in which i was pleased about and the mamogram didnt hurt them one bit.
Hope all goes well for you hunni. Dont know if your health authority is like mine but i got my results same day.

Thank you for adding your experience Jane, that doesn't sound too bad  I think I shall ask about my piercings when I get there, maybe I wont have to take them out? biggrin
