Not to be too prickly (I'll try) I think that Anna Nicole SMith may have set out to marry for money but she certainly didn't get it - the family are still disputing her share of the fortune. Even if she did, if she gave that old bloke the time of his life for the last few years he was kicking about, and he knew she was in it for the money and he actually got something out of it rather than the brats he produced who probably spent years merely living off him, then is it really so bad.
On another topic, I have become disconcerted with the number of attractive educated women I know who are actually more interested in a fella's bank balance than his personality or his actual interest in them. I once had a surreal conversation with a bunch of women I know who were discussing the MINIMUM amount of money they would accept being spent on their engagement rings, regardless of their fella's income and they were all aghast when I said how much I was going to spend on alovely watch I want when I win my first case... it was all truly truly strange.
They found it odd that a woman would actually want to know what she was getting herself, rather than WHO Was going to buy what for her, they then were even more taken aback at the fact that all of the lovley jewelery I own was bought by ... well ME.
I do have some lovely jewellery bought for me by past lovers, but they are special and worn on special occasions, and no they didn't go back ( I'm no nun) but they were bought as a token of esteem and so not something to be worn as a trinket or some token of wealth.
Lots of people are only interested in money - as am I , but I'm going to earn my own - not sure there that places me in the debate, but there you go!
Amber xx

nothing wrong with that amber i have always been generous or tried to be at least, the true value comes with trust and love not money. It helps yes but how many arguments are over money?
This is true, the majority of marital rows and or divorces are over money!

I married both times for love and now I'm single again and still fecking skint rolleyes

But you can hold your head up high and know you are financially dependant on just one person.. you! wink
Personally I think it is far too easy to sit back and say “no way”… you know what they say “never say never”.
There are some situations you truthfully cannot predict until you are faced with them.
Generally speaking my answer would be ‘no’, I would not marry for money. However, when you start with the ‘what if’ questions:
What if you kind of liked the guy?
What if we are not talking for trinkets, jewellery, to have a nice house or a bigger car... but for millions?
What if they were happy for you to have a great degree of freedom?
What if it was for a fixed length of time?
Let’s say this is a guy you are not repulsed by the idea of sleeping with, get on with quite well and after 2 years you would have £200,000,000 in the bank. You could give every family member a better debt free life and do what the fuck you wanted with the money (charity work, whatever). During the 2 years you would have the freedom to do whatever you wanted, as long as you came back most nights.
I would consider it.
But even reading the scenario in type is not the same as being faced by it – can we really tell what we would do ‘if’ we were single and really were asked to consider the deal?

I would consider it.

But at the end of the day, wouldn't you feel like you'd been selling yourself a little bit? In the end you would have been paid for sex, enjoying it or not it's still bought.
Hmmmm then again, as soon as you said the family member bit and a debt free life I sort of thought, well yes I can see that point of view. However, having come from a marriage where money was kind of ok but love was lacking (if I'm totally honest) and into a marriage where love is unconditional, very much as strong as the day we married and we're contented.. would I swap all that for money? No way.
Yes, I would love to give my family so much money they would be happy but then where would my happiness be?
I think my initial answer would have to remain the same, no I couldn't do it. :high-smile:
I know I couldn't marry for money. I just know I couldn't because money isn't attractive to me.
However I may be tempted to marry somebody if they owned an animal sanctuary. redface
I guess a good question would be: Would you marry for ______________? And insert what ever it is that would be most tempting for you.

There's nothing wrong with that (or do you know someone already? wink ), the goalposts have moved when you say it like that as a sanctuary is doing good work for animals. lol

I don't know anyone that owns one.
However if I came into a lot of money I would open one.

Lyrics
City girls just seem to find out early
How to open doors with just a smile
A rich old man and she won't have to worry
She'll dress up all in lace and go in style
Late at night a big old house gets lonely
I guess every form of refuge has it's price
And it breaks her heart to think her love is only
Given to a man with hands as cold as ice
So she tells him she must go out for the evening
To comfort an old friend who's feeling down
But he knows where she's going as she's leaving
She's headed for the cheatin' side of town
You can't hide your lyin' eyes
And your smile is a thin disguise
I thought by now you'd realize
There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes
On the other side of town a boy is waiting
With fiery eyes and dreams no one could steal
She drives on through the night anticipating
'Cause he makes her feel the way she used to feel
She rushes to his arms, they fall together
She whispers that it's only for a while
She swears that soon she'll be coming back forever
She goes away and leaves him with a smile
She gets up and pours herself a strong one
And stares out at the stars up in the sky
Another night, 'n' it's gonna be a long one
She draws a shade and hangs her head to cry
She wonders how it ever got this crazy
She thinks about a boy she knew in school
Did she get tired, or did she just get lazy
She's so far gone, she feels just like a fool
My, oh my, you sure know how to arrange things
You set it up so well, so carefully
Ain't it funny how your new life didn't change things
You're still the same old girl you used to be
There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes
Honey, you can't hide your lyin' eyes
enough said really

Oh dear UK, this is very close to your heart this thread isn't it? I may be wrong of course but your last two posts makes me think that. If I am right, then please believe me not all women are money grabbers or liers.:therethere:
