And yes, I check my own nuts during a hot bath for any unusual lumps and bumps. Not sure how to check for prostate cancer though without a blood test so if anyone knows of a way, I'm all ears

if your really concerned about any health issues i seriously recommend going private.
for the simple reason that they take time,listen and want to see make you feel that its quick in/out as some nhs surgeries leave you feeling.

I don't think the NHS offers a second-rate service, if you have a genuine and justifiable concern, most (if not all) NHS staff will give you the time you need and the tests indicated by your symptoms. All you get from private practitioners (apart from maybe jumping the queue) is a bit more ego stroking and nodding. The tests will be performed by the same lab-rat lackeys and the results will be the same whether you go private or don't. In edit: most private consultants also work for the NHS and I doubt they have different personae for their private patients as for their NHS ones.
The OP was asking whether you examined yourself to monitor changes that may imply something sinister going on. In the same way that women are encouraged to examine their breasts etc.
