What is it with sending a message like it's been copied and pasted from a porn site lol

Cheesy poetry or mundane 'chat up lines' or supposed scenarios of what that person would like to do with you? Does anyone actually reply to these types of message? Trash bin for me every time.

I have to say it's often quite difficult (for me at least) to try and write something different every message...
I don't copy and paste the same message to every person I message and I try to include some text relating to their specific profile to show I've
1) Actually read their profile
and
2) Written an original message
But I do try and draw the line at cheesy poetry or limericks and crass chat up lines and I promise not to use the Roses are Red one again redface

It's never usually messages that attract me, it's random conversations in the chatroom. But as a rule, long as they aren't looking like they are trying too hard, and don't send me dick pics then I could be interested.

In actual fact, 1 of the reasons I chose this site was because it had a chatroom facility. Having been a moderator of a chatroom from another site, I believe that chatrooms can be a good platform for members to express themselves without feeling like they have to sell themselves constantly. However, on the occasions where I have logged on, the rooms seem very dead, in fact they seemed totally dead. For a weekday evening at around you would expect the main rooms to be more active. The rooms are full but it seems members didn't want to chat in the main room. Are the rooms used mainly for purposes of camming? I would like to participate more in the typing sense but it is difficult when the only people to engage with are mostly other males masturbating lol

I don't want to be too negative and would like to be a participant of the chatrooms and be a contributor, but it is not easy when there is nobody to bounce off. Am I barking up the wrong tree with my expectations? I will be patient and check it out some more but at the same time, I do not want to feel like I am wasting my time by staring at a screen that barely moves.

1 step ahead of you. I hijacked a conversation and got called a gobshite. But I think they all like me though lol. Yes going on cam did help but I felt overdressed compared to everyone else. I think I ended up putting more layers on rather than the other way round. Most of the people watching me were couples who were a bit older. Anyway, there's hope yet I guess.

Don't expect to immediately fit in with others people idea of what they are looking for on here, some like young some older some don't give a toss about age as it's only a number.
People have been here for years and still not fitted in or felt welcomed whereas others have fitted in right away.
It's like real life,
You wouldn't expect to go into a club or pub and expect everyone to fall over themselves dying to talk to you, just cos you’re the new guy or younger than some of them etc.
