Messy eating.....

Here I am sitting here browsing the forums, eating lunch... and today I thought... go on treat yerself, so I bought a Cream Slice from the bakers....
It can not be eaten without getting cream up ma nose... and all round my mouth... not to mention the puff pastry bits that fall all over my lap....
Question.... Which foods do you find impossible to eat without getting messy??
Off back to my cream slice and coffee

fried egg sandwich....... best eaten with a runny yolk but it's a bugger when the yolk bursts before you get to it and it runs out the bottom of the sarnie banghead

At last ,someone else who has spoken out about the woefull design of the bakers cream slice. I absolutely love a cream slice, :happy: not them crap ones you get from the supermarket, but a proper one from a bakers, right up there with a Belgium bun boink

. The only trouble is they are designed completely wrong, bite down on em, as Tatty says and....splurt!...your wearing it. Try turning em on their side,....(see fuckin clever this end.... wink

) and they wont fit into your mouth banghead

which is a bugger cos now all your left with is, to sqeeze em a bit and kinda lick your way around the edges, which then means when its safe to bite down on the pastry bit, there's bugger all cream left. So come on bakers of Britain, get the job done right and make me a cream slice thats either narrower so I can turn it on its side, and fit it into my mouth or slice it the other way round.......go on you know it's right.

lovely orange stain on the shirt

There is a supposedly Dutch delicacy known as bitterballen (no cheap laughs please!) which consist of some sort of chicken/mushroom gloop in a ball like croquette.
These are then deep fried and served with a dish of mustard and a few cocktail sticks, the idea being that you dip the bitterbalinto the mustard and immediatley stick it into the mouth.
There are however a number of problems. Being deep fried they are extremely hot and being fried gloop it is impossible to eat them in one go cleanly. The bloody things also slide down the cocktail stick as well so you end up with a mouthful of boiling hot gloop, and burnt fingers as the rest of the stuff drips out and falls onto your hand. For those of you coming to Amsterdam, please note that I do not recommend these.
The other great Dutch delicacy is of course raw herring!!!
Here, the raw fish is served up with a dish of raw onion. The consumer picks up raw fish by the tail, dips it into the onions and then while tilting the head back eats the whole thing in one go. The remaining piece of tail is then discarded onto the bar or into an already full ashtray.
Now some people like this but after dreaming anout snogging the gorgeous Dutch girl on the other side of the room you then see her eat a raw fish with raw onion, it really is a bit of a turn off. lol

Personally, corn on the cob is something I could never order on a first date despite loving it! All that butter around me moosh with bits stuck between me teeth.........such an attractive picture!

I have a solution!!! Use a Knife and Fork to eat your Cream Puff!!! That's what I do with Donuts....I just put them on a plate, use a Knife and Fork to eat them and hey presto, no mess!!
Or am I just really sad? redface

Fish and chips with lashings of brown sauce, eaten with your fingers out of a bag. : :love:
Edible chocolate body...on account of usually being consumed off a rather distracting 'plate' ;-).
