A couple of weeks or days ago, (I can't remember), I saw an article in the Metro about casual sex on the internet. Bascially, the journalist said you joined a site and then listed the various women he met.
Does anyone know what site he used ? Was it SH ? Is he a regular member.
He got at least three women, and I cant imagine he spent more than a month researching the story, which is an incredible success rate for a beginner. That kind of makes me think he was a long term member, or he made it all up.
Anyone remember the artcile and what is said. Wish I had kept it now !
Peter
It sold papers you read it lol
They twisted words and made it up!!!

I saw the article, think it was Wednesday, and he did say it was a dating site, for people who were not looking for long term relationships, just some no strings sex, it was not a swinging site.
The name of the site was also mentioned at the bottom of the piece but cant remember what it was.
I think if it was SH, you would have remembered!! lol

Especially as a work colleague decided to read parts of the article out loud! Think I would have fallen off my chair if they had mentioned this place
It may have been a dating sitethis time, but who's to say this isn't one of the journalists trying to get swingers to do a story.
I think this is a great example to back up Pololady's post in the other thread

My point exactly
Hi there,
Here's a link to the article:
Theres no point, who really cares about what swingers do. I think its got past the shock value stage. A friend of mine was at one of those public orgy things in London. He's a journalist and he doesnt care on jot, hes there to have fun.
I think the only time it gets press worthy is when its somebody really famous, and lets face it I doubt there is anyone famous on here. They probably have a celebrity swinging club with there own website and everything.
Any journalists on here must be desperate. It would be better to make up the story.
Having said that I was the muppet who read it in the metro.

In this instance the journalist is also a swinger so they're not likely to want to write a story.

I disagree. It's been a while since I bought a copy of the NOTW, but they used to have a story every other week about some "sordid goings on in a suburban cul de sac" with "acts not fit to be described in a family newspaper"
This site mentioned in the link on Metro page is it a good site??
I've had a quick look and to me some of the profile/pics look fake???Some even faker than on here rolleyes
If anyones a member of the site whats it like???

I agree HLB
I know someone here on SH who had their face plastered in a paper after pictures & details of a 'room meet' (social gathering of swingers on another site, not SH) were 'passed' to the paper. mad I also have aquaintances from a couple of years back on the same site who have been subjected to being publicly outed as swingers in the national press, complete with face pic. Sleazy, sordid world this swinging malarky you know, particularly when the press gets a foothold.

But to advertise in it, it isn't. So to increase it's circulation (other than leaving it around on trains!), they need to have something to attract people to pick it up and read it. The higher the circulation, the more they can charge for advertising. so as with 'normal' papers, they still print anything they think will increase its circulation and make it more profitable.

Hiya uschicknuk :welcome: to the forum. Thanks for the link & hope you have fun biggrin
I read it in the Metro. It certainly made a refreshing change from the "I made my excuses and left" type article.

But Mal, nothing in the article suggests that the writer actually paid to have it included in Metro to enhance their circulation dunno
just read it.......what a pile of shit!

not exactly good journalism, I agree.
There's more make believe in that article than Peter Pan on Fantasy Island. A typical piece of journalistic 'research' that's almost worthy of a Pulitzer. confused

As said by Ian Richardson as PM in The House of Cards.. "you might think that Matty, I couldn't possibly comment" innocent

And I don't see a problem, if you want to help and talk to the press, then you click the link, if you don't then you ignore it.
Simple really

Sorry - I couldn't resist bolt
The thing in the article which made me chuckle the most was the ending comment explaining... after two weeks of trying NSA "I am about ready for some good old-fashioned commitment."
Never seen that happen before innocent

I agree, but it isn't advertising. It's an article whereby the journalist would have been paid by the newspaper for it and the newspaper felt it would have helped increase its' circulation and therefore its value to those who do pay to advertise.

Really?
So that is why the NotW send people with cameras into swinging clubs ... to hunt for celebs - I think not rolleyes
But you're right... who really cares about what swingers do? Who would care if it was their children looking at an article about them swinging? Who in the general public would care if their GP was featured on page 28 in an article on dogging. What employer wouldn't mind their senior management being featured in a wife-swapping circle article. What manager wouldn't mind their team seeing them with a strap-on up their arse? Who in the general public would really care if their child-minder was shown attending a bukkake party?
I just read the article and what a load of cobblers. First of all, what has it got to do with us? There is no mention of swinging, dogging or even adult parties. Secondly its about a typical guy who just wants to get a shag without commitment. I am sure most men have done/wanted that at sometime. It is nothing more than what a lot of singles (and a lot of married) people do every week when they go to a night club; Cop off, shag and then go home without commitment.
Besides the website that the site mentions is one of those horrid sites that keeps sending spam to my email inbox and keeps popping up when i try to connect to the internet.
