In reply to your post, I do like a certain couple to me she is perfect "Mary Poppins" :smitten: but I can only dream of being something like a good and great friend to her but I have to say I am going to bloody try my hardest to I see the possibility of being great friends

A couple had an advert here recently titled 'Mingers 'R' Us'. They were so up front about it and funny that one really warmed to them.

I personally won't be contributing to any more popularity polls and things like that. I did post in the nicest bum/boobs threads, but since then I've realised that if I had given it a bit more thought I would have abstained. What seems a bit of light-hearted fun to most of us, is taken very seriously by a few, who get genuinely upset and even angry at not being the most popular or thought of as the most beautiful. I also think we are in danger of judging the worth of people as people on a purely superficial basis, or more to the point, people are in danger of feeling themselves to be so judged, even if they're not. People like Punky, who apparently thinks "ugly" people are somehow inferior, are looking inceasingly like the thin end of a rather unpleasant wedge.

It is cool to be seen by others as someone nice and maybe funny, but the concept sometimes gets a bit school playtimish and some get easily offended. Maybe the minger avitar or quote is funny but I am sure someone will eventually take umbridge if thought of seriously as unliked ?
By the way I dont really give two hoots because no one has met me or knows me, so it does not apply to me. I have the most wicked sense of humour and have no issues about myself but just posting to protect those who may get mentioned and be offended???

let's face it, what one person finds beautiful, another may find just commonplace.
Everyone has their own beauty. The most beautiful being those who carry it within and not an external mask. That is the type of beauty which defies the ageing process!

I personally dont worry much about myself because words only hurt if they have some meaning to the person in say their past. I kind of do like the daft polls and such and always up for a laugh but maybe some would be upset and so my post. I tend sometimes to sit back and think ...ouch, or to avoid a post, but hey I dropped on here and maybe it is all fun, but then the daftest things DO happen and maybe it helps someone who may have thought to post a name and now thought maybe not???

I don't know... I can see where Ice Pie is coming from, and having such a caring attitude of course reflects well upon you. But I can't help but think that when someone throws their hat into the ring, they have to be willing to accept the possibility of not winning. After all, if they are the ones who do "win", it will be because most of the other contestants have "lost". (Which isn't to say there's anything wrong with not being the absolute best... at the end of the day, why care? Is someone going to give you a million pounds because you've got the prettiest penis? Will Jesus Christ be reincarnated in your living room and give you a guaranteed ticket to heaven because you're adjudged the funniest poster on a website?)
If we say competition is wrong because someone will lose, where will it end? Sport will have to go, of course... and most TV programs are broadcast to get more ratings than the other channel, so we'll have to do without that too. If you get promoted at work, it'll be because someone else didn't... and we can't have that. So no promotion. Democracy is a competition, of course, so no more elections. Where will it end?

I did think to myself as I read my post back, that people might think I was being PC, but I'm honestly not. Political correctness is all about pretending to be offended by inoffensive things, whereas, although I personally am not offended if someone thinks I'm less beautiful or in some other way less popular than someone else, I recognise that some people might be genuinely upset. I'm not even saying people shouldn't do it if everyone's OK with it, it's just that I got to feeling a bit uncomfortable about the whole "Who's the best etc etc" thing and felt the need to get it off my chest.

Ice i believe that people can get offended by some of the compoetitions on here but at the end of the day it is a bit of hilarity,a laugh and a joke and people have to realise this and as Alexandra said keep your tongue firmly in your cheek.
I can understand how some people can take things the wrong way.
I used to be huge,(a size 26!!)and had a very low self esteem and would easily get insulted by things.
Now after losing so much weight(still getting there)its given me a different perspective on the way i look at things.
I think its all a matter of how your take things,if you let your hair down and enjoy yourself you'll find that things dont bother you as much as they might.
Mostly i think its all about how you see yourself,if your not comfortable with yourself,how is anyone else supposed to be.
Hope all that made some sort of sense!!

having read all the postings mingers hall of fame i have seen some very valid points of veiw,
But fellas just for once in your lives get intoutch with your fem side you are all so competitive its not a footy match,
Who cares if there are winners and losers,
Just ask yourselfs why are we all here i think that in the main the reply would be to enjoy a small part of our normaly boring hum drum lives,
Or would most of you prefer a night out at the pub get steaming pissed have a takeaway get your head caved in on the way home or just the odd pavement pizza for decoration,
we could all do well to take a leaf out of Judy-TVs book i am what i am,
All the people around you are friends you havent met,
An epitaph i read sometime ago,
stop and look as you pass by as you are now so once was i as i am now so you shall be take up your staff and follow me.
You can find real friendship if you look( we have) be nice to eachother ttfn. J
