I'm thinking of upgrading my phone - thanks to my mobile provider who tell me I can in the next ten days or so.
Anyone use a Blackberry? Are they any good?
What phones are about that you would recommend?
Nola x
I telling you if you go to any of those holiday parks such as haven/butlins etc they are always selling them! big ones small ones ones with bay windows ones with pitched roofs etc - I personally think its a bit of a con really but hey what ever works for you
it depends on what you want from your phone and also which mobile phone provider you have. As some phone's capability is restricted by the provider.
I've got an I-phone recently and think it's a lot of fun because of all the other non-phone things it does lol

wink
I'm on Orange, so no iPhone for me.
I would like a phone with some organiser-type features, a camera, not too too small, easy to text.
I have an LG Viewty at the mo - totally style over substance. Great camera, but I find the actual usability pretty poor.
From my point of view/experience Samsung and Nokias do it for me cos they're so user-friendly. I've got a Nokia 5800 and I love it to bits. I can sneekily have a nosey on facebook for free using the WLan and hooking up to a modem.
I'd recommend this phone from my recommendation as it has a fantastic camera. It's but has a Carl Zeiss lens, but gives the same quality of a
However, with it being touchscreen, it can be difficult to text. Its fantastic cos it's a qwerty keyboard, but a touch-screen qwerty keyboard. If u have stumpy fingers like me, u need to use the stick to txt, which proves a bit difficult if ur in a car or something.
As funky as touch screen phones go, I just don't like them when it comes to txting. On any other phone, I can txt closing my eyes, and txt super fast, but no longer
I've had a Nokia 8800 Sirocco now for about 5 years. I dropped the original one 2 nights back and smashed the screen. I got a brand new one delivered under insurance today and plan to stick with it as I've bounced the thing a few times over the years and it's been really robust. It has all of the features you say you want. It also syncs. with things like MS Outlook contacts and calendars really well too - i.e. when you copy things back and forth it puts them into the right place rather than producing gobblydeegook etc smile
Had all sorts of touch screen phones - if you want one with email etc then the blackberry is for u - however i found them annoying because thay are a little fiddly - iPhone is the best one purely because you dont need to read a manual - just play with it and it doubles up as an mp3 player and movie pllayer - downside is it battery life because yer always buggering about with it lol. iPhone is available on other networks pretty soon.
btw i'm not an Apple nut - i dislike them but this has to be the coolest phone on the planet especially with unlimited internet access on contract. worship
oh iphones support push and calendars etc quite well - i got my google calendars and contacts /mail all set up no problem as has nix on hers - we share the same calendar. If we lose the phone our contacts etc are not lost that way.

Dont have a Samsung Tocco then.......Its pants......
Compared to the phones previously mentioned, mine seems rather basic lol It's an SE W302, but it does the job for me. I've had it a week and have only needed to charge it once (well twice as it's being charged now)
Besides the fact it's a slim one, my fave feature is that you can have video or gif files as your wallpaper (albeit without sound) The features I look for in a phone is a camera (2.0 megapixel which is okay, but without a flash sad ) Bluetooth, MP3/4 and that's about it. It was cheap and because I was a long standing O2 PAYG customer I was given a reduction on the price
I upgraded a few months ago, after a great 18 months of using my N95 8G (which I ebayed for £150), I got an iPhone. It took some getting used to but once I'd learned how to jailbreak it and sorted my contract I wouldn't be without it. 8 gig of storage, apps and games coming out of my ears, even sorted out a decent sat nav for it, and iPod touch is built in. For £40 per month I get more free texts and minutes than I ever use plus unlimited free Internet which is what I'm using now.
Can't speak highly enough of the iPhone, itz the mutts nuts!!

ahem.... Iphone is coming out on orange... Orange haven't offically comfirmed it yet, but someone on the inside has told me November 10th
I was just about to hijack your thread as try to get someone to persuade me not to get one... everyone i know who has one raves on about it......
To be honest I'm kinda boycotting the iPhone as I feel my iPod would then be redundant, and that would gall slightly.

no... think of it as an "all in one" package.... and that way you can keep ya ipod as a back up... thats the rationle going on in my head.....
I have been trying to talk myself out of getting on as my xmas present to myself.. it was either that of a Wii...
but the lure of the Iphone is strong....
lol

To be fair, I'm not a lover of touch screens - I'm a texter/typer and the touch screen thing just doesn't do it for me.
Am leaning towards the Blackberry I reckon. Proper keyboard!

Like I said in my post, I'd been so used to my Nokia N95 8G, still smile when I think of it fetching £150 on ebay. I thought I'd made a mistake when I first got my Iphone, even more so when the 3GS came out about a week later.
I wouldnt be without my iPhone now, like you say itz a brilliant bit of kit. smile
Can say what to go for but I can say what not to go for ..... Sony Ericsson C905.
Can do so many things and has a 8mp camera but has had a million and one faults ..... which Sony are fully aware was a fault when making them. Basically they have too much of the electric/cabling at the front and the wiring gets wrecked quickly as it was too long...... in 6 months has been fixed twice, speaker went, scroll button went and all noise function so no phone ringing, message alerts or alarms ....
Going back to Nokia when this contrcat is up.

i tend to be the same.. i love the N series from Nokia and every time i upgrade i go for this, as they do have a lot of good features. ( N97 is next on my list... just gotta wait another 6 months :-( )
and also the camera is top notch.... as i agree with Zeiss being the best lenses... if they can take a decent photo of Neil and Buzz on the moon, then they are good enough on my phone.
Bloody phones !!
Wish you can try before you buy ! Everytime i change my phone it takes me ages to get into the `swing` of what it does besides making calls & texts
We curently have
Nokia N95 , love it to bits & can use it dead easy. Just like most nokia`s
iphone 3G , mrs leics , nicked this off me !! She loves it, great touch screen & she has downloaded loads of stuff , we have unlimited web use on O2 sim only plan
Blackberry Curve , i had it 3 weeks , not a great fan , i have fat fingers & this has little keys , seems to be suited to `yuppies` with little fingers & lots of time to get their yuppie` mates to show them how it works lol
Only good feature i have used it MSN on my phone , beats text sex lol
Doing some research: the N97 mini gets a decent write up but they have apparently taken the lens screen cover thingy off so prone to scratching... not so good if poncey lens.
Still leaning towards the Blackberry, but have a week or so before I can upgrade so will keep doing lots of research.
Good to hear from actual users of the phones though - beats the salesperson spin!

I have already been looking as I am going to start learning to drive and I know there are some really good Sat Nav apps out there....
