Oi Welshbint!
Did you get it sorted then or have you been distracted by the pub again? biggrin kiss
Thanks very much Almag, that has been filed away for future reference ;) kiss
Feet2pleaseu, I have not been to the pub for weeks sad and bizarrely my monitor seems to have fixed itself  I tried it this evening and it's as good as new... weird dunno
Thanks for all the help folks ;)
Give it a slap, i'm sure you're well skilled in that area. You might have a loose connection which has righted itself for now, a good slap might show this up and save any hassle once the guarantees run out kiss

hi BWM,
not sure whether you managed to sort your monitor problem.., but have a few ideas!
The problem sounds like a loose connection, particularly as the picture is getting worse, the vibration of the pc fan could cause this, or if you'd recently moved the pc...
1. check that the connections on the back of the monitor are tight, typically there should be 2 (1 for power, 1 for video). on the video connection plug there are a couple of screws, they should be tightened into the socket.
2. On the back of your pc, there's the other end of video cable, make sure that the plug is also secure, and the screws tightened.
3. Is to check that the video card inside the pc is seated securely in it's slot (would mean checking inside the pc case).
4. Have you placed anything in close proximity to the monitor, speakers for instance? (This is unlikely as it'd only affect the edges, would be caused by unshielded magentics).
Hope this helps, if not already sorted. I tried so hard to leave out the double entendre's, clearly failed    , amazing how many sexually references make up a pc...!!!
Thanks for that nobby smile The problem seemed to go away on it's own confused
Oh and no need to leave out the sexual innuendoes on my account- I like them
