I'm going to update folks here as I don't want to turn the forum into a Mob/Caz news board smile
Firstly I... WE would like to thank you all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers, they are all warmly welcomed.
Second, the update.
Caz is doing REALLY well, she has a long way to go but is one hell of a fighter, she has started from a better place than she did last time and although this set of treatment is much more agressive she is in the best of hands and WILL do well :)
The consultant has decided, and spoken to us, about the best course of treatment for Caz and it basically is different from the 'norm'. Without trying to remember the actual names of the drugs ect, suffice is to say that last time round the 'norm' didn't work for Caz, so this time they aren't even going to put her through it, they are starting her with the alternative. The good news is that despite it being more invasive than the 'norm' its actually a quicker treatment to administer. So instead of being in hospital for at least 6 weeks initially and then again for 'phase 2' she should hopefully be out by the end of next week :) when she can recover at home :)
Phase 2 is then more or less a repeat of phase 1 after which comes the 'bone marrow' transplant.
That leads me to Point 3 :)
Thank you again to all who have said they would be willing to get tested to see if they are a match for Caz :) However I feel i need to make you all aware of a couple of points.
1. The testing is very simple, its a blood test, thats it.
2. The 'extraction/donor procedure again is relitively simple and there are 2 ways it can be done.
3. The 'BIG ONE' lol. In the UK, other than direct blood relations (as far as I am aware) an 'outside' individual can not specify who their donation is for. The 'procedure' is that you have a sample taken and then your tissue type is then logged in a data bank for future needs. THIS IS A LIFE LONG COMMITMENT and you are 'expected' to donate whenever your tissue is a match for a person needing the transplant. Needless to say the potential for helping other people like Caz is great but I feel I had to make this clear as many of you have said you'd be happy to be tested :) Please don't let this put any of you off if you still feel the desire, I will certainly be registering and if i can help another family/individual through what we're going through I damn well will :)
That all said, the main news is Caz is doing brill :) If anyone has any questions feel free to ask, I don't mind answering them :)
So again a big THANK YOU to you all.
Morb.
No words guys, just a heartfelt :therethere:
I'm just going to add to what Morb has just said. If you are interested in donating Bone Marrow these are the two websites that you can find out more from.

Registering as a Bone Marrow Donor, could save someones life, not just our daughters life, but one of tens of thousands desperately needing a transplant.
There is a huge shortage of donors, particularly from ethnic communities. It's not until it happens to someone close to you that you realise how desperate the situation is.

Thanks for the links, calista. I was told I was too old to apply to the register, and I bet a lot of people think this is the case - but the upper age on the second link is 49.
Gutted - Sometimes words fail. Hope and thoughts added to those already added by the good people from here.
Last time I saw you I was thrilled that everything was going so well with her. I've only just seen this thread and as soon as I opened it I was gutted
Thanks for the links, hopefully a match will be found for her. Positive thoughts and virtual hugs to you all kiss

Up till I took ill I was on the register and have had bone marrow harvested and donated twice.
Its one of the things you can still do while you are still alive that can help other people.
Its the most wonderful feeling knowing you have helped to save someones life.
Go and register, get your friends to register,
It dosent take a lot of time out of your life but it can give you so much back in return.
Love ya loads Cali n Morb

I can only imagine what you are going through, but I'm a dad and I can guess how I'd be if it were either of mine. I've only just seen this thread on another site, so haven't commented earlier.
Words really aren't enough at a time like this, and distance means that reaching out and hugging you both is not practical -- but just know that's what I'd want to do -- it will have to be a "virtual" one.
I've checked on the two donation sites and regret they won't take mine on age and medical grounds, so I'm afraid I can't help there either.
But know that I'm thinking of you ....
Good news today ...
Morbius, his ex and daughter went to Sheffield today to meet the consultant re the next stage of treatment, which is the start of the Bone Marrow Transplant.
The best news we could be given this side of christmas is .....
They have a match!
All being well with the donor they will start the treatment at the end of November!

best wishes to you all xxxx
I am so bloody thrilled, that is brilliant :bounce: :bounce:
Good luck kiss
Thanks everyone for your support. What I should have added is that the match they have is so good the only better match would have come from a direct sibling. There is no better match than that but we don't have a direct sibling for her.
There is still an uphill climb to battle against but we truly believe that it will be positive.
