I always have a 5 year plan and then break that down into yearly plans on want I want to acheive in both my career and my personal life, my ultimate aim is to be fully retired by the time I am 55, so ensuring that I am in the right job earning the right money with the best pension scheme is part of that so in the next 5 years I want to have gone up two places on the career ladder, this year I also want to learn how to play the guitar ...

The five year plan is good advice.
Alas I seem to be able to put the career ones into action but not the personal ones! :lol2:
I'm currently trying to motivate myself to go to the gym but reading my book seems more appealing at the moment :lol2:
I like to live in the moment.
Write a list. It may not help with the motivation, but it feels like a prefectly justifiable activity instead of the prevarication it really is. biggrin:D:D:D
I found my motivation in the shed, it has 2 wheels which needed pumping up, chain and gears needed a bit of a check over, then off I went. I thought I was going to die in places as I live in a very hilly part but damn it I did it and I did it again today, and I will probably be doing it again tommorrow.
Don`t just sit on it, get off it and get it done :bounce:
no aims or plans......other than to have fun.
You never known what is round the corner.....so just enjoy what you got...whilst you got it.

I always wanted to retire at 55. When I did, I was miserable after while and went back to work (part time) at 59 and felt better for it.
Plim
I was unemployed for 18 months and apart from the financial necessity that forced me to return to work I loved every minute and didn't have a moment of boredom.
I find my motivation from achievement be it large or small tasks I set myself targets and if they are uninspiring or arduous tasks I'll set myself a reward on achievement which may just be a visit to the pub for a couple of pints or attending a social on here ...and believe me thats some motivation. lol

Divide things into things you want to do, and things you need to do.
Then take the things you need to do, and weigh up the consequences if you don't do them.
Work out a timeline for the things you need to do - I have to pay my child support by the 15th, I have to MOT the car next May. MOTing the car doesn't matter. Paying the CSA will. Knowing the difference makes life a lot easier :-)
Then take the things you want to do, and weigh up the benefits and the costs of doing them. I wanted a holiday, I could afford one, I took one. I may not be able to afford one next year - I won't fret about it if the choices I make about money mean I can't afford it.
Things you want - how achievable are they? I want to live in a medieval castle with a submissive pole dancer who's kinky and gorgeous in my bed every night, and a slut who'll provide entertainment for myself and guests in between times. It ain't going to happen. The reasons why it isn't going to happen are beyond my control, so I'll accept the wonderful things that do happen as the best this man can get.
Motivation is nothing more than understanding the balance between what you want and need, and what you can and can't achieve.
Good luck.
Hmmm I always struggle as well with Motivation....it's one of the things that I'm working on.
I like to have a Monthly Plan of things that I want to achieve - And then I work my way through them for the month.
It IS difficult though...Wish i had an answer, it might sort my own life out!! lol

I always look at it in a methodical way of things that need doing and then prioritise them into some sort of order. I have things that I need to do professionally and those that I need to do personally and I do my best to keep the two seperate. It depends what sort of person you are and your personality traits etc suppose I am fortunate that I am one of those people who doesnt let anything faze me remember I have to live with Allen so of course nothing fazes me god love him really he is male lol
I have none at all at the moment, as the company has gone into administration and as of friday i am out of a job am gonna have to find some from somewhere.
think the last month hanging on at the company with the administrators to close it down has been soul destroying, nothing to do apart from sit about and wait to be asked for information, then packing away the last 10 yrs of my life. until the door is finally closed for me on Friday i dont think i will find motivation.
I have created a fb page for my cakes and ordered business cards, not quite sure i want to go down the website route yet, but its a start.
a week or two off work with no money will no doubt give me the motivation i need to shift my ass

But the cake pics are so fab,i think you should go with it as a business plan, this could be the start of a whole new era in your life.

if i wasnt the sole wage in the house kaz i would seriously consider it but i need the stability of a salary, so for now the cakes will have to be a sideline til i can get the teaching qualification i want, to teach cake decorating.

I found my motivation last week. I began to decorate my lounge and believe me, I haven't half shocked myself. If I had known I could do it this good.. I would of been doing it all myself years ago!!

I have a friend who has started to make and sell cakes and they're not half as good as yours ... she also started on facebook and is doing really well with it so I'm sure you would have no problems at all.
As for teaching qualifications, the minimum qualification you need to teach adults is PTLLS and they do this at most local colleges. It doesn't take to long to do either. If you start the course and need any help then give me a shout, I'd be more than happy to help.
Your old job finishing could be the start of something new and fantastic for you.
Good luck xx

Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you’ll get one thing done.
Seriously, I also find it hard to get motivated, and yet I love a challenge. It's the mundane stuff I have trouble getting started on. I hope you find the 'kick-start' you need (and tell us your secret when you do lol)

You don't need to have a specific qualification to get onto a teacher training course which qualifies you to teach in the lifelong learning sector, but you do need to do a specific number of teaching hours so you have to be able to teach something (in your case, cake decorating). For PTLLS you are not assessed on your knowledge of the subject you are teaching but ability to facilitate learning. It is the first hurdle into teaching in this sector and is very basic. You know your subject and some colleges may arrange for you to volunteer on a course like this). A colleague of mine had to go and deliver health and social care at an OU summer school as part of her Cert Ed but she has no health and social care quals, she was just given time to brush up on the subject matter. A good teacher can teach anything given the time to prepare.
Vocational trainers in organisations are now required to have at least a PTLLS qualification if they teach anything. Even to teach the mandatory training (manual handling, fire awareness, etc) they should have this qualification and don't have a subject specialism qualification. Different colleges have different entry requirements so it may be worth asking about??
Hahaha can you guess what I do for a living??
