Have just watched Octopussy on tv this afternoon and it brought back a great memory of my whole family sitting down on Boxing Day after lunch, when all the aunts, uncles and cousins would all get together round my grandparents house and there was ALWAYS a Bond movie on.
My grandad would be asleep on the chair, my uncles all arguing over which Bond was the best and us kids eating mince pies.
So, do any of you lot have any movies that bring back a special memory or remind you of a great, happy or sad time in your life and if so, what is it? biggrin
Just watched Octopussy too. Blimey, they are looking dated now! Good fun though:-) Thats what Sunday afternoons are for, well, amongst other things...
The first film I remember watching as a family was a Herbie film. It must have affected me cos I had an old Beetle.
i dont know if any of you have seen Bio dome? its a stupid american comedy. me and one of my oldest, best friends watched it over and over again for a long time. so much so we could recite the damn script!
he isnt with us anymore, but that film will always bring back memories of us laughing together smile

I remember going and queueing to see, in order (oldest first):
Bedknobs and Brromsticks with my sisters and parents,
Abba the movie alone rolleyes
Grease with one of my sisters - all dressed up too!
And I remember going to see Jaws, then my mum frightening my youngest sister in the toilets by doing the music.

VIVA LOS BIO DOME
I think the first film I ever saw at the cinema was 'Dumbo' but the first that made an impact was 'E.T.' I soooo wanted to be Drew Barrymore in that film (and in many since, to be fair! wink )
Taking my (now an adult) eldest to the flicks for the very first time to watch "Casper." She's always been tiny, and really light. When she sat on the seat, it flicked up & swallowed her whole. The entire- huge - tub of popcorn she was holding shot into the air, spewing its contents, fountain-like across our entire section.

This happened to my neice when I took her to the theatre to see Annie!. It was hilarious :giggle:
Whenever I watch The Little Mermaid all I can ever think of is my mum taking me and my sister to see it and promptly falling asleep and snoring all the way through. I was 10 and so embarrassed!!!.
The best film I remember going to see was "Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban".
I dressed up as Hermione, my brother was Harry and mum was Proffessor McGonagall. It was an awesome night. Especially when we got cars tooting their horns at us.
Needless to say, I'm an avid Harry Potter fan.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
I was eight...oh how we laughed
lp
Watching Donnie Darko with my son when he was about 12 and realising that he was growing up and would be far more intelligent than me as he new what was going on lol.
3 years down the line and I wasn't wrong.
