There was a recent poll to find out the top soundtracks of all time, the top 5 were-
TOP FIVE FILM SOUNDTRACKS
1 The Blues Brothers
2 Pulp Fiction
3 Trainspotting
4 Saturday Night Fever
5 Dirty Dancing
Was just wondering what you all would put as your top one(s)???
My favourite is Trainspotting, the indie inspired soundtrack is fantastic and right up my street.
The Breakfast Club is another good one,but is sounding a bit dated now.
Apocalypse Now is great, but quite strange in places (to go with the film loon )
would certain agree with the top 2...... but i would have them in reverse order..
all of the others are going to be up for debate..... biggrin :D :D
i would have grease over dirty dancing and probably saturday night fever by a long way.......

I would say something along lines of ...
Kill Bill Vol 1 ... a real thumping soundtrack, especially the main theme that everyone on TV is ripping off nowadays ...
Star Wars ... the original soundtrack, instantly recognisable ... well, what did you expect given my userid
Grease ... very dated, true, but the film makes me laugh every time cos it's so cheesey, and the tunes do the same, irresistable.
Blues Brothers ... nuff said!
... gets harder after that !!! redface
We'd put:
1. Trainspotting.
2. Dirty dancing.
3. Rocky IV
4. Stars wars (and other film where Williams did the sound track i.e Harry potter and Jurassic park!)
5. Various James Bond Themes such as 'nobody does it better' and 'all time high' the theme to octopussy!
But as you know we're made on the old 80's stuff.
Nearly forgot the classic:
"We're having a gang bang, we're having a ball" from our very own...
My favourite soundtrack from being a teenager is Dirty Dancing and the all time classic is Grease:-
".. your the one that I want, ..... shoop shoop shoop honey ..."

Best soundtrack ever for me was Once Upon A Time In The West - most haunting theme ever and a film I am gonna sit down and watch tomorrow as too poorly to do anything else so there is up sides to being down rolleyes  smile

Ennio Morricone did some excellent soundtracks, I also loved "For a Few Dollars More" , suprisingly he also did some the tracks for Kill Bill 1&2 . On another note get well soon kiss
qaudraphenia would be number one although i cant spell it :!: :!:
The Lost Boys, Highlander, Pulp fiction, Pump up the Volume (for "Everybody Knows!"), The Wall (from start to finish!) Dirty Dancing (sad I know but loved) Top Gun (Even sadder), Footloose (In fact still love to watch the film occassionally too although outdated)
and I loved the soundtrack to Crocodile Dundee too!!
But then I like themes from films too!!! Braveheart theme, Gladiator, Get Carter, OHMSS (James bond film) loads of them!!! will probably add more when can think of them!
yeah yeah yeah Quadraphenia .. excellent.
Must say I like the Kill Bill soundtrack. I have to say though that it was the only thing I liked about it.

My top 5 will of course vary according to my mood. At the moment they are, in no particular order:
The Commitments (which reminds me... will there be karaoke on Saturday? wink )
2001 A Space Odyssey
The Rocky Horror Show
Blues Brothers 2000
Tommy
1. Romeo and Juliet. (Baz Luhman version)
2. Beauty and the Beast
3. Rocky Horror
4. Kill Bill vol 1
5. The Little Mermaid
Ok, I like Disney. Don't pick on me!
Wow - to find so many people are into my other favourite topic - movies!! God, I have died and gone to (swinging) heaven.
An often overlooked movie soundtrack is that from Natural Born Killers. At the time of its release, Q gave it 5 stars and said it was a benchmark for the future in the way it fused movie dialogue into the tracks. Some of the tracks arent everyone's cup of tea but the way in which the music complements the movie is cool.
My faves are probably Boogie Nights 1 and 2. Because like the film they switch from the happy'orgy' inspired feel of the 70s to the coke fueled AOR rock 80s. Have to say its my favourite movie aswell....hmmmm now there's a topic I am sure has been done before , but for the newbies like me - can we do it????????
