Just wondered what everyones favorite re-mixes of old songs were, normally I think a lot of artist ruin the older versions but in some cases just make it sound like a whole new song or better than before!
Mine are:
Gary Jules - Mad World formerly Tears for Fears (both such great versions!)
Dr Dre VS Sugababes - Overload/Forgot about Dre remix (funky!!) :P lovin it! (more than a maccy d's!)
Scissor Sisters - Comfortabley Numb formery from Pink Floyd (at first I thought they murdered it but its like a whole other song and much more danceable to) smile

Have to agree about scissor sisters ....
Can't think of any others now
OMG brainfade
I can't decide if I like the DJ Sammy - Heaven mix (I think it's the Candlelight, piano only one) better than the Bryan Adams one, I think I do.
Ridiculed as I'm about to get, I prefer the Marilyn Manson version of Tainted Love *runs*

Oooh me too ... love Marilyn Manson at the moment ... I actually like Personal Jesus too.
I guess though I'm not into covers so much as remixes .... guy called Freelance Hellraiser does some fabulous tunes .....
Boys of Summer - Don Henley and DJ Sammy both great versions too smile
Not a big manson fan though much perfer depeche mode and marc almonds version of those!!
Jimmy Sommerville - Never can say goobye (dunno who the original artist was??)
Yeah, being a long time Depeche Mode fan I was a bit braced for a bad cover of Personal Jesus, but it's actually really good.
Gotta admit I like my remixes too.. will look that name up.

Oh no DM fans are taking over the world ....
Freelance hellraiser is excellent .. haven't got access to my MP3's at the mo but he does and excellent Grange Hill Theme vs Eminem My Name is ....
hehe cool
did anybody ever hear the laura (by scissor sisters) vs thomas the tank engine remix on radio one!!
Funny as fuck but then I laugh at anything at 7am, only way to start the day haha
Hehe, can't deny on the remix front DM probably have more remixes of their tracks than actual tracks!! I shall make it my mission to pick up the DM fanclub in this forum..
I shall go on an MP3 hunt tomorrow methinks.
Now I KNOW I'll get a battering for Muse - Feeling Good, but I can't help it. I just love the guitars!!

Im sure " Feeling Good " and "Cant take my eyes off you " were both Muse.....and both brilliant. Maybe the Manics cover was " Suicide is painless"...also excellent

Tis a cool version its on Lipstick Traces a Secret History lots of cover versions on it!! Take the skinheads bowling, last christmas quite a mixture!!
smile
Gosh, everthing from Garfunkel to the Clash...thanks...I`ll make one exception to my anti covers attitude biggrin
Sinead O'connor "Nothing compares 2 U " & Jeff Buckley "Hallelujah" are two that spring to mind.
The best cover version for me had to be Mike Flowers Pops with Wonderwall, bloody brilliant biggrin

And much to Oasis` annoyance it equalled their number 2 position lol...rather funny lol
hehe that is funny!!! smile
Bloody Oasis I hate them their fist song sounded like a mixture of cover versions, ever since then almost every song theyve written has sounded the same :O
Dread the day they release another song confused

Nothing Compares 2 U was written for Sinead, so not really a cover. The purple man's own version is far inferior, imho.
No one did New York State of Mind better than the Muppets.

Beakers version of 'Feelings' is class, too.
Gun - Word Up, although Cameo's original is hard to beat. Not sure if I like the Korn version and as for the Mel C version.. bleah.
Whilst not as good as the original, Apollo 440 - Don't fear the Reaper is a great track in it's own right. Same goes for the Atari's - Boys of Summer.
Reel Big Fish - Take on Me
Save Ferris - Build me up Buttercup, Come on Eileen
And I recommend anyone checks out The Wildhearts - Cheers Theme as well, if you like your guitars. biggrin
I'm assuming that Mama's and Papa's did California Dreamin first, but I do like Bobby Womacks version, it's currently a car ad but i can't remember for which car confused redface
ccr xxx
Nirvana's cover version of David Bowies The Man Who Sold The World from thier MTV Unplugged Woder Stuff's cover of Slades Coz I Luv You.
Clare will hate the fact that so many people love Depeche Mode, she hates them with a passion and i absolutely love them. lol
How can anyone hate Depeche Mode, they did the defining song for this board:
Just Can't Get Enough wink
Depeche Mode are a band you either love or hate theres not much in between I'm on the "I hate" side.
