Its raining today.... so no riding out for me..... thus i decided to clean out the filters on the aquarium.........
I take out the filter...... and look carefully at all the fish.......
There's one MISSING.....!!!!!!!
He is a 5" long silver shark with black fins..... and quite timid......
He's definately not dead..... as there is no corpse floating or otherwise in the tank....
The other fish don't look as though they have eaten him either....
So.....................
I can only presume that he has gone on a little holiday somewhere........ so.....
Have you seen this fish ?????????????????????
If found please return to:-

Do you have any rocks or coral in your tank that could have a predator hiding inside?
My dad lost half a dozen fish before he found out they were being ambushed by a shrimp he never knew he had.
The cat got it?
It jumped out and is on the floor / behind soemthing?
The other fish did eat it?
Someone got into your house and stole it?
could he have been eaten?
i used to keep tropical fish and despite trying to biuy ones that wouldn't eat each other... there was a suprising amount of fish that just disappeared.
mind you..5"? that's a canny big fish!
I guess give it a couple of days....if a fishy smell begins to appear, you'll have a pretty good idea.
Or expect a note along the lines of "Stuff your tank, your filters needed cleaning weeks ago....I'm off" ?!?!

Maybe the spider ate it?
yep.. that's a possibility.. the spider could easily have lifted the tank lid with two of its legs and whipped the fish out with the others!!...

Where's Kinky when you need him confused

We had the same thing happen with a couple of our fish.
Went out and bought a couple of Clown Loaches, 2 days later they were gone
No bones, bodies or anything, although our Shark had a cheeky grin on his face lol
Supposedly they have, a hard skull, so other fish can't eat that bit, so the mystery continues confused
Right......
I am just going to have to get the small keepers net and have a poke around in the tree stump thing.... hopefully it will flush out the missing shark....
I hope to God that it doesn't flush out a rotting fish corpse or i shall throw up!!!!!!

how far is the nearest toilet from the fish tank? dunno
maybe he got a bit cheesed off being stuck in the tank, and like the fish in 'Finding Nemo' hatched a cunning escape plan...... the other four gave him a fin-up out of the tank then he's cartwheeled across the floor to the bathroom/downstairs loo, grabbing a ruler you had foolishly dropped and not retrieved  used it as a pole vault to catapult himself up and over the toilet pan, and hey-ho, freedom......... :dunno: :dunno:
other than that........ i go with the others

or maybe

The nearest bathroom is several rooms away.... the cat cannot get into the tank... the other fish dont look smug enough to have eaten him... and there's no debris left.... and no-one else has seen him.....
Do we have a fish-napper on the loose??????????????????

(Off to check the tree stump now... back later unless being violently ill....!!!)
sounds like he's had his chips innocent
:bounce: Ok panic over,
here's the little scoundrel. :giggle:
Maybe you went out leaving the door or large window open confused . A heron landed nearby, a dog or cat attacked the heron who took refuge in your house thru the door/large window.
The heron, biding its time utill the coast becomes clear, feels slightly peckish. Spots a rather tastey looking, plump, black finned silver shark basking near the surface of your tank and eats the bugger  . Checks to make sure the dog/cat has gone and flies away. cool
Well you never know, its possible ! ! dunno rolleyes wink
Thank you whoever did that, i was running around like a headless chicken here trying too fix it myself banghead :taz: :scared:
Note to self: ............. put on cone shaped hat, go stand in corner.
He might've had a sudden attack of shyness and burrowed into the gravel at the bottom of the tank to hide. dunno :dunno:
Send the cat in for a looksee? :rascal: :rascal:

ok here goes...detective dargento to the rescue.....
your fish...after a lengthy day at the school....decided that they had had enough of dirty filter aromas and hatched a cunning escape plan.....
one of your fish painted himself orange and white,,,,oh wait....that 1 got done before by nemo...
one of the fish....using a spatula type thing which they had secretly made from left over fish food (which they had ben hiding over the past few months...managed to pry open the top of the tank...your shark...being brave and a little head strong was the first to try to make it out of the front door and bolted....unfortunately the cat who had been watching the whole episode made its move and gobbled the poor reckless shark in 2 bites...
unfortunately for the cat it was also being watched by the resident giant spider and was immediately on finishing its impromptu meal paralysed by the aforementioned spider.....
the proof is in the pudding so to speak ..and i believe the cat has hidden the poor kitty in the garage...hung from the cieling somewhere near the back.....
did you look ?????
heehee
