hi all, i was just wondering if it is me or not, but do some of the nicknames put up on here. sound like they have just come from a script for a carry on film lol
Mine is just the everday nickname for the mighty Partick Thistle Football Club - nothing film star'ish about Firhill I'm afraid!! lol
Barbara Windsor played Nurse Zepsix in Carry on Doctor!!!

I don't think JQL appeared in any Carry On films. At least I hope not.
JQL is me, my initials.
Sadly, I chose "Roger" based on the word's sexual meaning. Seemed funny at the time...
Jags thanx for the explaination.... I wondered about perhaps a penchant for motor cars of a certain type...
mine has nothing to do with carry on.... but is merely a shortening of one of my Email addies.... and I use that email addie as I was once involved in dealing with the black economy.... and looked for "ghosts" thus G(host)man, and the triple xxx was due to a challenge by someone else in another forum/life...when I lost my main puter and went underground for a while....
convoluted story.... but you asked...
Am certain there was a Nurse Moist in somehting....
and of course Alex is really Sexy Lexxie .... from carry on schoolgirl.... played by Hattie Jaques!!!!
and wasn't Misschief in Carry on Cowboy?
and of course fred was in Carry on Caveman

KitKat may or may not have been used in a Carry on Film, sounds more like the lead lady from a Bond movie.
The reason for KitKat is nothing to do with chocolate bars, but a reference to an old army expression, we used to describe someone easily led as having the willpower of a KitKat.
When Kit joined me on the site, and I moved from 'single bloke' to 'couple' status, I wanted a name that reflected two peopel - and lo, Kit and Kat were born.
There you go, that answers at least 5 e-mails I have had in the last few days! lol

Some of us live with the name and smile inwardly!!!! especially when those that do not know the "other" meanings ask....
I understand that in the 19th century many a fine stud Bull was named Roger.... Articifer may welll verify that...
in and of itself the name goes back in time to the northern Celtic lands that are now germany, and it means or meant Spear thrower...

In the early eighties I dabbled in CB Radios. My handle was Sgt Bilko as my nickname at school was Bill and I was in the army. I happened to think Sgt Bilko was a very funny programme so I became Sgt Bilko.
So here we are 20 years later and once again I am Sgt Bilko. lol

I know some have wondered so:-
"Carpathian Psychonaut", as the full version is, is taken from:
Carpathian: Taken from the track "Funeral in Carpathia" by Cradle of Filth. Also from the whole mysterious Dracula stuff you have the Carpathian mountains in Transylvania
Psychonaut: Taken from the track "Psychonaut" by Fields of the Nephilim. Also as it means somebody willing to explore on many levelssillyhysical, emotional and mental.
Not just thrown together !
Carpy
This is my real name (as on my birth certificate) too
I got this nick in a game in an IRC chatroom... a load of regs came in using disguises and we had to try and suss out who everyone was. It was meant to be a one off but the name kinda stuck and it seemed somehow appropriate for here biggrin
Ice
PS - Alex, love the new av
After all the kerfuffle of the last week there's no way I'm answering this question! Suffice to say a lot of people already know.
I used to have the nick Flora - a pretty girl's name not so far removed from my real one. However, too many smart comments regarding my spreadability put the mockers on that one. rolleyes
So where did Sappho come from? I wanted a nick that was descriptive of me and my interests. ShropshireBiBintinSpecs was accurate, but hardly complimentary... I considered Aphra (Aphra Behn) but 'Sappho' seemed more apt.
And in case you were wondering, Sappho was an Ancient Greek poetess who, legend has it, died for love. I don't intend dying for love, I shall just live for it.
Sappho xxx
Mine is simple, i'm 6ft 5, and I have long hair... The hairy purely refers to my head in case anyone was wondering smile but I liked the name...

69 why would that be ;-)
just a favourite of mine :P
my favourite number as well what a coincidence lol
My 'Nick' has nothing whatsoever to do with the 1970's TV Detective Harry Orwell.
Harry is simply my first name, and the '0' comes from a foreplay technique that a lot of ladies say I'm very good at doing. redface surprisedops:
Harry0

I have blue eyes! Simple!
Actually, one of my friends has a nickname for everyone in their phonebook and mine is Blue Eyes so I guess that's where it started from.
Mine comes from a fusion of two sources:
An artifice is a clever 'device' or 'cunning contrivance'. As a young chap, I was a bit of of a cunning little bugger, especially around the 'unseen' regions of a rugby scrum. so I got the nickname. I then joined the Navy, as a trainee 'technician' or 'Artificer'. At least one other on this site followed the same route. So, it seemed sort of natural.
Ours is another simple nickname really - our initials! nothing more, nothing less....
ccr xxxxxx biggrin

The plans for the hyperspace bypass were clearly posted in the local highways department on Alpha Centauri. Bloody apathetic species, I've no sympathy at all. rolleyes
